Feeling too ill to exercise, and a bit down

My stomach problems have been pretty much constant since last Thursday. I've been in pain and feeling drained, despite sleeping well. I usually run two times a week with a club, and I've now missed last Thurday's session and Tuesday's session, and am not sure if I feel up to going tonight, either. I've only got in about 20 miles on my bicycle this week as well.

Do you guys reckon it's worth trying to run? I can ask the coach for a special easy session, and tell him my stomach is playing up. Is it worth trying to run through the pain, and will exercise relieve the pain I'm in now? I know it works like that for period pains (which I also suffer from badly).

Anyway, this is my first post on this board. I'm Jane, I live in Sussex, in the south of England, but I grew up in Chicago & Scotland. I'm a Phd student studying evolution, and I play the violin to relax. I exercise quite a bit usually- I cycle to work several days a week (round trip of 10-12 miles), run with a club and run or cycle on the weekends. I'm also trying to build flexibilty by doing the New York City Ballet Workout a couple of times a week. I'd like to be more graceful.

Jane

...something a little more relaxed...what about the ballet workout or some yoga? I know running can be quite hard on the bod.

I no longer run but thats not due to my tummy issues but injuries... I bike and walk and dance and stretch and do all kinds of other things instead.... I am training for a 150 mile bike ride, but you don't need to be that extreme about it and when I was running I was a marathoner- just me....

Good luck whatever you decide, maybe take a break, the jarring motion on your tummy may not help until you get things more in control....

I think I'm going to end up doing that. I still have cramps and feel exhausted, despite eating nothing but rice with soymilk & banana for a few days. Usually running helps me relax, and I don't find it very hard.

Ach well, I'll see how I feel later.

It might help if you added something to that diet. I know when my tummy gets upset if I eat the same things for too long it gets worse Don;t know if that's the case with you here...but thought I'd mention it just in case. Feel better soon *hugs*
