hey everyone..esp ibs c'ers I've found heathers diet very helpful with regard to removing most of the triggers except insol. fibre...if I eat white bread I cannot go!!! but I am so interested in the soluble fibre supplements..you all rave about them...how many of you with ibs c have had your lives turned around because of them (or just a diet rich is soluble fibre)...am I weird to be a person that thinks she cannot tolerate it (believe me I have tried very hard to eat them...I love white stuff!!)...??? Inspire me or tell me the way it is! thanks XXXX

I like SFSes a lot...and white bread too. I used to have a very gurgly belly, and Citrucel, acacia, and Equilactin all helped with that. If you really feel better with lots of insolubles added, there are some SFSes that also have insoluble fiber (Metamucil and other psyllium products, for example).
If you feel like white bread stops you up, there are a couple of other things you may want to look into:
1. Are you getting enough liquid? You should take in over 64 oz a day, although you can certainly go over that. (If you start feeling extra bloated when you increase your liquids, make sure you're getting enough salt!)
2. Are you having some insolubles along with your white bread? I feel best if I get both types of fiber in every meal.
3. Are you exercising? I get way stopped up if I don't get a couple of miles of walking in each day. If I'd get off my butt and join a gym, I'd probably feel even better.
just a couple of thoughts, --AC
