I've posted this before but I'll post again cause I'm not sure if anyone saw it but I've done so much research into IBS and nutrition and preservatives and stuff..and by no means am I an expert. But I know that I've had IBS-C for years and I've had to deal with it and learn what works and I think I'm slowly getting better.
I think that colon cleanse's are awesome! We have so much junk in our bodies that we need to get rid of but I don't think it should/can be a long-term thing. And I also have been doing Elaine Gottschall's Breaking the Vicious Cycle because my cousin is 100% better (she had IBS-C) after 2 years on that diet. I'm not saying Heather's diet dosen't help but when I was on it, all the flour and bread made me worse. Although there are alot of similarities between BTVC and Heather's diet.
Since I started BTVC's diet, I have had regular bowel movements..it took a couple weeks (it explains how to go about it on the website) but it works.
Plus the biggest thing is lots of prayer.
I wish there was no such thing as IBS, or at least a cure. Its something so simple yet its not at the same time.

Hope this helps!
God Bless

I take Fibercon tablets twice a day and it has truly helped in my IBS-C. I thank God everyday for those pills. I just recently bought the self-hypnosis CDs and they should be arriving any day, I can't wait. Trying to plan a wedding I'm sure has brought a lot of this on. I was fine until I went on a cruise back in October and then all hell broke loose because I was so sick on the cruise, we think. I guess I'll learn to cope with it on a day to day basis. I am also very thankful for this message board! It's nice to have others to talk to about it.

Hey, I'm an IBS-C, too, and I'm very unstable right now. I was wondering what website you were talking about in one of your posts. It talked about "Elaine Gottschall's Breaking the Vicious Cycle". I wanted to see how that diet differs from Heather's diet. I would GREATLY appreciate it!

I have IBS-C. I've had it really all my life, but right now I am in a bad period of about 8 months now!

Guilty as charged. I'm actually experiencing some slight C right now, and was just searching for info on MOM when I came across this. I know it's old, but what the heck!

Count me in! Had IBS C for years and so frustrating! I'm 60...can't believe it. I'm older than most of you and have daughters some of your ages but we are all in the same boat! I'm still experimenting to see what gives the best relief without causing more pain and gas so will let you know what I discover....
