I can't say that I'm GLAD to see that this thread is still active, because I wish it would get smaller and smaller until nobody has IBS-C anymore, but I WILL say that I am glad that it is still helping those of us who are both receiving and giving advice and support.
As for me, I'm still following Heather's guidelines for my diet, with the exception that I'm taking my magic Oxypowder pills. Since they're doing what they're supposed to, which is eliminating my constipation (lol) I will take these pills every few days for the rest of my life with pleasure.

I have Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) and I've suffered from gas, bloating and constipation from it since I was a small child. Sheryl, I've been taking a T of magnesium oxide every night. It works. Why do you say it inflames your intestines? I haven't seen that in my research. If it does cause more trouble, I'll quit it. B

I noticed that the main ingredient of this product is magnesium. Is that the same as in Milk of Magnesia? I take MOM if all else fails but not too often as I don't want to become dependent. I find MOM is quite harsh but really gets the job done.
Oxypowder sounds a lot like Oxyclean - you know, the guy on TV who yells a lot?
I'm a bit sceptical because of the way they advertise this product. Everyone is entitled to put into their bodies whatever they choose. For me, laxatives work short term but often have a rebound effect causing worse constipation. I use laxatives only out of desperation when nothing else works. There are plenty of things that will clean you out - such as the concotions we have to drink before a colonoscopy.
