2 things- a) exedrin has caffeine, b) my GI told me to skip any NSAIDS (non steroidal anti inflamatories) - talk to your doc about alernatives other then just tylenol...

I take Lodine for my knee and it is definitely a trigger, so is the naproxyn I used to take... I finally did some tracing of that the last few days so Monday I'll be on the phone wiht the Gp about an alternative for my arthritis....

Apparently some doc at Northwestern did a research study on IBS and interactions with pain killers and discovered a large percentage of people with IBS get triggered by the NSAIDS...

My husband swears by Excedrin for his migraines. He gets the photophobia, blurred warning before his. He pops 2 exedrin and usually makes his migraines bearable. I myself would never put an excedrin in my mouth! I would bounce off the walls. There is sooo much caffeine in them. #1 which is no good for IBS'rs and #2 makes me anxious. I take simple, plain old extra strenght tylenol for all my aches and pains. I am fortunate also that it works for me!

I used to take Excedrin for my migraines but the last time I did I was shaking something terrible and felt funny and then of course ended up with D. I will never take another one.

Thanks. I'm ok with Advil thank god as it's the ONLY thing that takes my menstrual cramps away. But I agre that it's not good for tummy's and can even cause ulcers.

Yeah, Aleve (naproxyn) is the only thing that works on my menstrual cramps. Although it does trigger me, I have found that if I take an Imodium with it, I'm fine! That's the only time I take anything in the aspirin/NSAID family though. The rest of the time I stick with extra strength Tylenol.

I've never tried Aleve. I think my Advil is ok but I always have to take it with food and only for the first 2 days of my period.

No, I don't think they're migraines. I have TMJ which is a jaw disorder that gets aggravated every now and then. It gives me intense headaches. It's usually caused by stress (clenching my jaw) or the way I sleep. http://www.tmj.org/basics.asp
