Aug 9 will be 7 months no D. Almost lost it last night and have no idea why. Woke up with terrible cramps like I was about to have diarrhea. I took an Imodium, sat on the john awhile but only passed some gas, so I went back to bed with the heating pad on my tummy. I still feel a little crampy this am, but NO D!!

It's weird though because I ate only things I normally eat, so I have no clue what the trigger might have been. It started after lunch yesterday, but I had plain pasta. I had a doctor's appt for a sonogram on my thyroid yesterday, so maybe it was being nervous about that? Plus still processing the stress from the visit with my sister. Who knows. OH!! I KNOW!! It's because I'm mid cycle. My stomach is more often upset than not right around day 14.

Thanks for listening while I figured this out!!

Congratulations on the almost 7 months. I can't wait until I say its been 7 months since I have had D. Keep up the good work you will make it. Just think a year is right around the corner.

LS - I congratulate you on your accomplishments - something I'll never achieve (lack of endurance). Just remember that you're a human being and that you're not perfect. It's OK to not be perfect. If your D happens, well it does. So what? Minor setback, right? You've had amazing accomplishments that you should be very proud of. Am I making sense? I just don't want you to feel crushed if you do get D,or that it's some kind of failure on your part. You know what I mean, sweetheart? Celebrate, and take pride, just don't set yourself up for failure. With this I send the bigggest of hugs. Han.

Hi LauraSue,
You're doing great!! I have a question..doesn't taking 50 mg of amitriptylin plus the bentyl make you drowsy? My husband takes 25 mg of amitriptylin and it seems to make him tired. How much bentyl do you take and how often..every day? Thanks for your help.

Hi!

I take the amytripalin (can't spell today) at night because of its sedating effect. I take a total of 40mg of Bentyl split into two doses, one when I first get up and the other 12 hours later or when I go to bed. I have no problems with drowsiness during the day, except a little when I first started it but it wore off.

hope that helps.

Han don't worry, I know exactly what you mean. I'm sure I'll be spittin mad when my no D streak finally ends, but I assure you my philosophy of life is "stuff happens"! I'll just pick myself up, dust myself off and start all over again! I'm just so grateful that Heather's diet approach has helped me so much!

Thanks, hon!! And big hug back atcha!!

PS. FIVE DAYS TO GO!!!

Thank God for this board and benefiber. August starts 5 mos without a major cramp attack. Just a very few times I had some minor baby cramps start but stopped within a 1/2 hr. None of my usual 3-6 hr cringing in pain with my entire colon clamped down with diahhrea & vomiting since March. When I get the baby cramps I picture my colon trying to cramp but not being able to because of all the fiber I have in there and think of Heather's comment about that in her book. Now with everything going so good IBS wise I wish I could figure out why my anxiety level went way up to the point I had to be put on Zoloft? Just a puzzle to me. I even wondered if it could be the benefiber since anxiety started after I started taking this. Stopped Bene for a week but no changes so went back on.

one thing my GI told me yesterday- she thinks one of my unknown triggers is the meds I am on for my arthritis- she said NSAID's can cause reaction in many IBS patients.. I get to call the regular doc this AM and ask for an alternative med...
