I am having to take a supplement that has to be dissolved
in 6 to 8 ounces of liquid. It can't be put in tea. For some reason
it breaks the tea down. I don't know what kind of juices are okay for us IBS-Ds to drink. I hate cranberry juice. Can anyone give me any tips on what
juices are okay? I sometimes put it in a smoothie but
I can't drink 2 smoothies a day. I have a rather serious
medical condition and I need to take this stuff and am
really having a hard time. The only thing I've found so
far to put it in is bouillon. One can only drink so much
bouillion.

Well, I guess either no one knows the answer or
I should be looking somewhere else on the board.
I would really appreciate some help if anyone can
direct me to the right place.

I didn't answer because I drink mine with cranberry juice.
I do not like regular cranberry juice either. I did find one that I do like though. Ocean Spray White Cranberry and Peach.
Hope this is of some benefit.

Hi Sugar,

I haven't had luck with any juices so I can't help you there. But, what about water with a little lemon or lime squeezed in and a little sugar or sweet & low. That really tastes good. Or I like just plain water with one packet of sweet&low or sugar.

Does the tea you can't drink include herbal teas???

Sorry not to be more help.

I can drink Ocean Spray Cran-Cherry and I have no problems with it. I can also drink some apple juice. Over all I try to only drink a glass in the morning. What do you make your smoothy with? If you use soy milk can you just drink soy milk with your medication in it? Either Vanilla or Chocolate? I wish I could be more help.

Could you brew some herbal tea, let it cool down (add an ice cube or two) and then it might accept your med better? I think it's the heat in the tea that didn't work.

So far I haven't found any cranberry juices I can stand,
but I will try the Ocean Spray White Cranberry and Peach.

The people who make the suppliment just said it doesn't
work in tea. I used it in all kinds of decaf/herbel teas
and it doesn't work. I'm drinking Snapple Strawberry and
Manjo juice now to see if it works without making me sick.
I will have to wait until later tonight to see if I get
sick from the juice. It's such a bummer not being able
to drink anything but water and tea.

I use Almond milk in my smoothies. I can't drink soy.

Thanks everyone for answering this is really important
to me because I have to have this suppliment in order
to survive and it's really been a problem because of my
IBS. If not for the IBS I'd put it in coffee or orange
juice and be done with it. What a pain.

What about Cool Aide? I bought a package and am
wondering if it would be okay.
Here is the ingredients in Strawberry Cool Aide:
Sugar, Fructose, Citric Acid (Provides Tartness), Calcium
Phosphate (Prevents Caking), Artificial Flavor, RED 40,'
Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C).

It is way to sweet for me but I need something anything
to put this supplement in.

I know I've been able to drink Kool Aid with no problems. I usually buy the kind in the little envelopes (unsweetened), and make it with less sugar than it calls for, because yeah, it is really sweet. But the kind with the sugar already in should be fine too.

Some people are especially sensitive to the artifical colors and flavors in Kool-Aid, so I'd be careful. If you start having IBS symptoms, then I'd cut out the Kool-Aid.

I should have added to be careful with it at first... don't drink more of it a day than you need to take the supplement with, just to make sure it won't disagree with you. I find I'm not sensitive to the artificial colors/flavors, but too much sugar makes me weird, so I can't use the pre-sugared variety. Good luck, Sugar!

Hiya,
I would just say to try different juices in small amounts and see how it goes. Like, some people can tolerate apple juice or low acid orange juice but I know they are a big no-no for me. If you can handle them, though, you'll be in the clear.
I also agree with the using caution with Kool Aid, 'cause we know some people who have had problems with it.
As for the cranberry juice, I have read that some people have had problems with the mixes, but try the ones people responded saying didn't bother them. I know white cranberry is supposed to be less acidic so you might not dislike it as much.
And last but not least, I just wanted to say that because I can't handle ANY other juice I tried cranberry juice (even though I have always HATED it.. like gagged when I had to drink it..) and still hated it.. But now that it's my only option, I have actually grown to like it. Not on it's own, it's still too strong and bitter for me so I either dilude it with still water or with flattened gingerale. So if you run out of options, you might be able to force yourself to like it like I did!
Good luck,
--Steph

This drink makes me vomit every time! Too much fructose I image! And I usually dilute my juices with water like some of the others on this site do. Just test the waters and see how it goes. Good luck!

Thank you all so much! I hadn't thought about the
artificial ingredients. So far I've drank it with
the supplement 3 times. It's a bit hard on the
stomach but okay. I'm making sure I drink it when I
eat dinner so it's not on an empty stomach.
I'm going to continue to look for other things.

Hi, Sugar!! I love pineapple juice. I actually take my morning dose of SFS dissolved in 1/2 pineapple juice 1/2 water.

When we were little, my brother's favorite juice was Welch's Grape Juice. Remember that??!! It's probably got artifical stuff or HFCS in it now, but it sure was good then. He'd get a little purple mustache every morning!! So cute.

Hope you're doing okay. Good to see you around.

I have been using Stevia (available at GNC and health food stores) to sweeten tea and Kool Aid. I can't handle too much sugar.

It works well in drinks because it dissolves well and doesn't have a funky "artificial sweetener" taste. It only takes 1/2 to 1 tablespoon to sweeten an entire pitcher. Just a thought.
