Hello to everyone,

I'd like to start off by saying what a great message board -it's a wonderful resource!

Here is some info on what I've been experiencing - for about the past few years I've had abdominal pain that comes and goes, mainly have loose bm's, but sometimes I get c. I've been having severe indigestion and some heartburn, and I'm also extremely gassy.Right now, I'm having rectal with some bleeding.
I was diagnosed with IBS in 2000, and have also had a laproscopy for Endometriosis ... but there was nothing there.

Lately the pain seems to be worse, it's under my left rib cage and goes all the way down to my pelvic area, it feels like there is something stuck there. The past few weeks have been really bad.

I was previously on Zelnorm but discontinued using it because I thought I was better.

However, I'm having a a major flare right now. I started using Zelnorm again about two weeks ago.
I've been running to the bathroom none stop, and find it rather embarrassing. Last time I used it, I didn't find I was going as often ... except in the first few days, which my doc told me was normal. And I haven't been eating anything out of the ordinary.

I'm also wondering if anyone has had weight loss while using z?
I feel like I've lost a few this week.

One more thing ... I've never been to a GI doc and am wondering if it's worth my while to go?
My gp is a great! but he hasn't run any tests on me in a few years and I really think I could use another lower/upper gi x-ray ... or maybe even a colonscopy.

any thoughts would be great!
thanks for your support ;)

hi sweetiepie, cute name
welcome to the boards. First of all not sure if anyone replied to this post yet but, if you have D I would stop the Zelnorm it will make it worse, there was apost here while back on a Zelnorm warning not sure where it is. I recommend you get Heather's book IBS the first year, trust me it is a MUST and if you follow her suggestions and guidlines you will get more stable, hang in there I am praying for you.

Definitely ask for the colonoscopy. It's the only way to be sure it's IBS. Plus ask for a celiac test (gluten intolerance). Book an appointment with your DR.
In the meantime, strong peppermint tea will help ease the bloating, pain and maybe even the D. It's a wonder drug - I swear. Also, keep an eye on what you're eating. Read the dietary guidelines on this website and follow them. Ease off on the insolubles for a day or so and see if you feel better.
Take dare!
