I'm so hungry that I'm shaking, but today I'm bloated. It feels like my colon is pushing up into my ribs. (is that disgusting or what?) Has anyone else ever felt this way?

Yep-I have been there and have a fair amount of bloat today. Best thing for me is chamomile tea and rice or noodles. Plus I use Benefiber-you can work up to 2 TBS per day, or Acacia if you like. Gas X or Librax help reduce the bloat or a good walk will too. Lots of wAter. a heating pad on your tummy. Hope I helped. Maryh

I've been taking Benefiber and have been trying to change over to the Acacia. I've been taking the Acacia for a couple of days, and this morning I got sick to my stomach with it. I'll try the tea and water though, thanks much!

Hey thanks Maryh! One question...plain rice or noodles?? If not, what can I put on them? I've been struggling with that. Whoops!!! I guess that's more than one question!

Yes, I do. I particularly become aware of it when I'm doing my morning sitting meditation. I can feel the difference in my breathing; when I'm bloating (whether from a bit of "intestinal distress" or PMS) the breath feels very constricted. Interesting how different bodies experience & percieve things differently, huh? Fennel tea is so very helpful (warning... disgusting vocabulary coming) makes you fart like a banshee, but that's kinda what we want, isn't it, to get the gas out? Also, in answer to another question on this thread, try a little chicken broth or ponzu sauce on the rice or noodles. Makes them very palatable. Good wishes; hope you're feeling better soon.

I have read your posts and looked at your picture but have never been so attentive to details as to notice important things. I live in Big Lake too! That is pretty incredible.

Ponzu is mild soy sauce with some citrus flavor. Very pleasant in rice, noodles, and Asian cuisine in general. You can find it quite easily at Asian grocery stores and, actually, at good grocery stores.

Well, Becky, if you did move to Iowa (Cherokee) we'd be approximately 200 miles apart! BUT! You would still be in Iowa!!!

My doctor insisted on giving me chest x-rays because he was sure I broke a rib or had lung cancer or something. I kept telling him it's not my ribs or my lungs it my colon pressing on my ribs. For me it is the left side right where the colon starts it's downward turn. I have had C so bad I've been in the hospital for official cleaning out.

OOOH, doesn't sound fun. I've been severly C where I'm C literally from end-to-end, but all they do is give me a prescription laxitive and tell me there's nothing I can do to help it, I'll just have to deal with it for the rest of my life. YAY!!

You'll feel it when it's severe. I couldn't go no matter what. Even if I would wait for 30 minutes. Your stomach gets so bloated that you look like you swallowed a basketball or something, and you feel completely full, even when you haven't eaten. Even when I would just sit on the couch, I could feel my full colon and it would actually stick out of my belly. (EESH!)
Oh yeah...it is Rachel. Becky is a nickname I have.

like there is just not room for another bite of anything. I have had it so badly it felt that my intestines were full of cement. It just feels like it is going to come right up my throat! Sometimes Acidophillus helps, you have to ask the pharmacist for the live cultures. I take two before bed, and they work the next day. If the C is really bad, it could take a few days. It may help and it may not.
I was joking with a friend yesterday, "I fell like I have the Statue of Liberty shoved up my butt, and it has no intention of coming out". She laughed and laughed, thanked me for adding humor to her day, I told her there wasn't a funny thing about it, OH yes there is.....

I went 20 days without a substantial BM doctor sent me to hospital for high colonic - I never felt so good! I don't let it get that bad anymore because I am more educated. That was several years ago. If I go more than 5 days or if I start to feel sluggish (all the toxins in there) I'll go to a restricted diet and up my soluble and then switch to all liquid diet if necessary. I'm pretty regular now kindof following Heather's diet. If I followed it closely I would be in fine shape I'm sure.

Tammy

I have the most pain on my right side as well. I looked at a diagram of the digestive system and have read that the place where the small meets the large intestine is a "difficult" passage point, especially for IBS-ers. Drinking lots of water and really watching my diet has helped me get control. This site has been fabulous!
