My colonoscopy is 1 week from today. I'm very nervous. Partly due to the procedure itself, and partly bc I'm afraid they might find something bad.
I know I have nothing to worry about, but still. What if they find something awful? (As if having IBS wasn't bad enough )
Anyway.
Turns out a few women from work have IBS. Let me share a funny story with you that happened today with my friend Brenda (IBS-D).
Brenda: (joking) Move outta my way, missy. Me: Hey now you watch it. Brenda: Come on, come on (nudging me out of the way) Me: That's it. Lets take this outside. We gunna fight. Brenda: Oh come on. We both know we are too weak to fight. I'll just give you some ice cream and you'll be done for.
It's sad, but so true. Have a good week everyone!

I thought that was pretty funny. Sad but true, yup.
I'm sure you are nervous... I'm nervous about mine, and I don't even have an appointment yet! You'll be ok. Hang in there and have a good week too!

Worrying about tests is certainly no fun, but it seems like you have a great attitude! Humor is often the best medicine and your story was cute!
Please try not to worry, the procedure is usually not bad at all. Hope your week goes by fast and good luck!

You can do it!
The procedure itself really isn't that bad - it's more the idea of what they do that is troublesome.
I was lucky because the day I went into the GI doc he had a cancellation for the following afternoon to do a colonoscopy. So I really didn't have too much time to get myself worked up about it.
Sure hope it all goes well, Leigh

Thanks everybody. I hope it's not too bad. Did anyone go back to work the next day? I'm scheduled to work, I just hope I'll be ok.

My very first colonoscopy is scheduled for July 14. The GI staff was very thorough in explaining everything to me, including all the prep. They said the prep will be the most uncomfortable part. Good thing that is done in the comfort of your own home. The procedure itself is supposed to be a piece of cake, but you will have to have someone drive you because of the good stuff they give you so that you don't know what they are doing. They told me that I will probably want to sleep a lot on the day of the procedure because of that, but I would be able to go back to work the next day with absolutely no problem. Good luck with your test. Hope that everything goes well!

Why don't you have an appointment for a colonoscopy yet? From what I've been reading on these boards, everyone suggests getting all the tests that you can to rule out things and to know exactly what you might be facing. That's why I took the plunge and contacted a GI. My very first colonoscopy is scheduled for July 14. I am hoping to get a firm diagnosis on my IBS. It never hurts to be sure!

Hey there. My first colonoscopy has been scheduled for July 6, four days before my wedding. BZ (Brenda) said that I should be fine by then, and a few others have mentioned that the after-effects aren't too bad.
Keep us posted on how it goes!! I'm curious!
