It started quite a few years ago for me, sometimes I've had to get my food back up again and it is very painful going down, hasn't been too bad lately though but mostly find it with potatoes and meat. Thought it may be linked to IBS?? I also have trouble swallowing, but I am not sure that it has to do with the IBS as my sister and brother have similar problems and they are not suffering from IBS. I was told to have a swallowing test as there could be pockets at the back of the throat...or other reasons.
