I just thought I'd let people know that I seem to be having some success with aloe vera capsules. I got them from a health food shop where they were advetised for IBS. Apparently you can get liquid or capsule form. I've been using the capsule. The brand I found is Lifestream.

They seem to settle my stomach quite a bit....it doesn't seem as touchy or prone to gas as it used to be.

Emma
Thanks for your message, is something i have been thinking about trying and is nice to know that it has worked for someone else.
However, there are so many ideas out there i have to be careful that i let one have a chance to work properly before i try another one!

All i know is that i have heard them mentioned a number of times in connection with soothing the bowel.
If anyone knows any more details we would love to know them?

When do you take the aloe capsules? Do you take them during an attack, after?

At first I started taking the capsules first thing in the morning, then just before bed....the instructions said they worked best on an empty stomach. Now I take one capsule once a day, usually at night...although sometimes I forget so I take it in the morning.

I've tried finding out a bit about aloe vera on the web, with not much luck as yet....I just keep getting manufacturers blurbs...but I did read something about a Dr in the UK having great success with his patients. Also, apparently it is great for cleansing the gut (form what I could gather, the liquid form was used for this)...

I'm going to keep looking when I have time.....

Hi
With IBS-D, the idea of cleansing the gut is not appealing.
I am interested in the healing properties of aloe vera, and I, too, have only found info on the web.
I have a question into my good friend's daughter who is very knowledable about herbs and such.
If and when I learn anything, I will be sure to post the info.
