Would taking a digestive enzyme with ginger, fennel, peppermint be better than taking Beano? Does anyone know? I have severe gas and bloating.

Hi Angel,
To feel fine (no gas, no bloating), I take a multienzyme that contains fennel in it with my meals and sometimes with my snacks. I add 1-2 beano when I have legumes (ex: hummus) or a little bit more vegetables.
What also helps is the fennel tea, the probiotic, and I always wait 1-2 hours after a meal or a snack before drinking something.
I hope it gives you some ideas... byebye

Rocketqueen: What is the name of the multienzyme that you take? I too, suffer with severe bloating and gas. You also mentioned a probiotic. What exactly is that?

Hey Angel,
I take a Jamieson Multienzyme which you should be able to find in Canada. Each caplet contains: Papain 50mg, Bromelain 30mg, Lipase 30mg, Amylase 50mg, Lactase 30mg, Cellulase 15mg. Calcium gluconate to neutralize excess acid, Peppermint Leaf and Fennel complex to calm upset stomach.
I find it really helpful. Don't get me wrong, it sadly has not gotten rid of all the gas and bloating, but I definately noticed a difference when I started taking it. I also use Beano depending on what I'm eating...because I got the impression that Beano will only really work with the major "gas-producing" foods like the ones listed on their website: http://www.beanogas.com/foodlist.asp
Hope that helps! Kelly
