OK I started out the morning feeling AWESOME! I had half of a bagel with alittle smartbalnce light Then for a snack I had pasta with low fat dressing and rice krispies treat(IBS safe ones) Anyway all of a sudden out of nowhere D big time. Now a week ago I had a bad attack at work and I've really been trying to be good taking my SFS and Levsin and equalactin. I can't get stable I felt fine yesterday and this morning and then BAM! Also I have my period duble whammy My question is couldit be too much sugar that causes the D maybe from the rice krispies treat? Anyway I have to go to work in an 1 1/2 hours and I'm panicking. I'm really getting discouraged because I can't function!!!!!!!!!! Thanks for letting me vent!

So what are you doing about your SFS? What kind are you taking, and how much? I was having D attacks at the most inopportune times, and I couldn't pinpoint the culprit. Then I discovered I was taking in too much Acacia. As soon as I cut back, the urgency and the D stopped. I haven't had an attack since.

Try cutting back a little on your dosage and see if that doesn't help.

Bev

2 fibercon 2x a day isn't that much... I bet it's something other than the SFS. The fact that you have your period is enough in my mind... sometimes during my time of the month I have problems no matter what I eat!! It's very frustrating. Also, I know a few people who have problems with marshmallow. Have you ever noticed them to bother you before? If it is them the Rice Krispy treats could also be the culprit. I'm sorry you're feeling sick. Just take it easy and I hope things improve for you soon!

Hi Kree
Do you think I should be taking more of the fibercon? Also how much equalactin should I be taking? Any advice on how to get through work tonight? Thanks!

Well, I just checked Heather's info about SFS and she says each Fibercom contains 1/2 gram of fiber. Here's what she says about how much to take:

For the soluble fiber pills (Equalactin, Citrucel, Fibercon): Start at 2 pills twice daily and work up to 2 pills six times daily, or the equivalent of 12-15 grams soluble fiber supplement per day.

So it sounds like it might be good to start increasing your dose... but very slowly, so you don't get too gassy or bloated! Maybe up it by one pill each week or something like that... and if it doesn't feel right to your body go back down until you feel ready.

As for what to do tonight, just stick to whatever has always been safest for you! Personally I just drink lots of peppermint tea and water and eat pretzels and toast when I feel sick. As a matter of fact, when I was doing pretty badly about a year ago my gastro told me I should buy stock in Rold Gold.

Whatever you do, I hope it works. Hang in there!

You might also want to start keeping a food diary. Sometimes for me it's something I ate the day before that sets me off, especially when I have my period.

Good luck and don't give up, okay??!!

No. It's not the Fibercon. There's only a half gram in one capsule, so you're only having 1 gram twice a day. Unless you increased that dosage too fast -- were you at a lower dosage just recently, perhaps?

Hi,

Sorry you are having such a hard time. I would suggest keeping a food diary and record everything you eat or drink. Also check your vitamins, gum, mints and see if they might contain sorbitol. It is a big IBS trigger. High Fructose Corn Syrup is also a trigger.

Feel better soon

LOL! Kree, are you talking about toilet paper here? The "Rold Gold" part. If you are, my husband and I have often joked about buying stock in Kimberly Clark! The hilarious/ironic part is my uncle is a scientist engineer for Kimberly Clark. He has actually engineered toilet paper that dissolves in water, so once it is flushed it disintegrates over a short period of time.

Ha-sorry! I am an airhead! I guess toilet paper would be "Rolled Gold"! Thanks for the correction. In my mind I can actually visualize the Rold Gold bag now. LOL, I'm embarrased!

Lol! Yes, I was talking about the pretzels... but Rolled Gold would be a hilarious name for a brand of TP! And yes, we could certainly use stock in that too!

How funny about your uncle! But hey, it sounds like auseful invention.
