I know there are some college students out there. I have my first exam tomorrow in the class I am taking. I have not had to take a single testin school since my IBS started. I am so nervous, especially since I missed last week. I am graduating in May, which makes me even more nervous. I was suppose to graduate this past Dec. but I ran into some snags, to put it mildly, with my cooperating teacher and supervising teacher in Execptional Education. I have changed my degree because I could not go through 6-8 more weeks of student teaching again and I hated teaching anyways. I sure that is more than you need to know but I thought I would mention it. I am one of those perfectionists in school and can't handle doing anything less than excellent. I know I am putting more pressure on myself. So any suggestions?

Been there, done that kiddo! You sound just like me. I was ALWAYS expecting only the best from myself. The truth of it is, you can only do your best with the time that you have. So give yourself a huge pat on the back. You will be fine. Make sure you take care of yourself tonight. No cramming! Treat yourself to some safe herbal tea, a hot bath, whatever and get a good night's sleep. RELAX. Nerves do not help. Be extra careful with what you eat today. Eat safe. Cramming does not help. Sleep does. Go in tomorrow and do your best. That's all that anyone of us can do. Consider me your one - grad cheering squad! ( I have a Honours Bachelor of Music and a Bachelor of Ed.) Han.

Hello....
I, too, am a grad with IBS...although I wasn't diagnosed with it until only a few years ago. I remember suffering through the "nervous stomach" during school...not only in college, but from grade school on. I think what helped me in college, now that I know what I had and things that help, is that I walked everywhere in college out of necessity and that kept my "gut" healthy. Out of necessity I walked around 3-4 miles per day...I really need to do that more now. I feel much better when I walk....

Anyway....I know what you are talking about and agree with Han....just take it easy (I know it's easier said than done) and try to relax as best you can before the test. All you can do is your best. We are all pulling for you. I'm raising my cup of mint tea in a toast to all of us!

Good luck!
Nugget

Thank you for your suggestions. I had my husband quiz me Monday night. Then I feel asleep on the couch. I tried not to think about it yesterday and ate rice before I left. I also made some peppermint tea to take along. It was so nice since it was very cold last night. Took along my favorite CD to listen in the car for the 50 min. ride and then got to class early.

A sweet girl in class let me see last week's notes and the prof. let us study a few extra minutes in class. I ended up getting the bonus question right thanks to the girl in class. I rushed a little with the test. I had to use the bathroom and I didn't know if I should go or wait until I was done with the test. I think I did pretty well, but I won't know for two weeks. Next week the school is closed Mon. and Tues. for President's day. Yeah! No class. Unfortunately, my prof. continued class after the test. So I ended up getting home at 9:45, driving in the blowing snow, with very little tire tracks to follow. I hate driving at night as it is.

Just thought I would update you all.
