Are you kidding me? That broad is a pain in the butt! I'm always having to tell her, "aw, get off my back, woman!"

I'll trade her in any day!

(But thanks for your generous compliments; you're very kind. Now, if you can just tell her sometime for me, "GET OFF THE DAMN COMPUTER!)

Thanks, Girlfriend. I'm just about ready to give in and take the Donnatal after all. I have GOT to be "up" and "okay" tomorrow for a real important meeting; I can't afford the luxury of reclining all day with a heating pad on my tummy (like yesterday and today).

Cutting out sugar? Good for you! It's all empty calories (as Heather told me). No, I don't crave it anymore. It was tough at first, what with all that talk about the ADBs and RKTs. When hubby put them all down the garbage disposal, it hurt.

There are several tricks. First of all, empty your pantry of all sweets, then tackle the freezer, and yes, that includes Mocha Fudge! (Groan.) It's not easy to do, believe me, but that's part of the deal.

Second, don't go into the recipe board! It's tempting, and I gave in several times, but when I did, I suffered a little, because I really wanted to try some of those great recipes! You just have to be strong.

Third, add a little honey to your tea. It makes it extra sweet, and really does curb the sugar cravings.

Also, when I was really having a hard time of it, I made myself some cocoa. It not only satisfied my craving for sweets, but also my craving for chocolate.

Last, but certainly not least, don't let yourself be in a situation where those around you will have sweets -- at least not during the times when you're having those cravings. It's only temporary; you can be around them another time, but when you're having trouble, don't make it harder on yourself.

YOU CAN DO IT! If I can, with my terrible sweet tooth, YOU CAN!

Thanks again for your kind words -- and be sure to let us know how you do.

Bev

Hey Bev,
Sorry to hear you're not feeling too good. I can sympatize, I spent alot of Easter at my boyfriend's house curled up on the couch with a heating pad, while they ate eggs, bacon, sausage, steak and tons of chocolate That was pretty hard, but I managed!
I hope that you feel better soon!

THANK YOU BEV!!! You have given me some great ideas! I think that in the past the reason I ended up giving up was because I tried to go cold turkey. Your honey and tea, and the cocoa ideas are wonderful! I will definitely incorporate those things.

I just threw out some brownies, and now the only thing that is sweet left in my home is cereal. So that will be my desert in the evening until it is gone.

I'll keep you posted on how I do! Tomorrow is Day 1....they say it takes 21 days to create a new habit, so tomorrow is the first day torwards that goal!

Amy

OMG! Eggs, bacon, sausage, steak and chocolate? OMG! And they lived to tell about it?!? Really? No kidding? How can anyone eat that CRA-?!? And, girlfriend, that's what it is! CRA-!

EWWWWWW. Dead cow carcass, fat, grease, cholesterol CITY! OMG!

And now you, why were you on the couch with a heating pad on your tummy? Did I miss a post of yours? Are you sick? You didn't eat any of that stuff, did you? Please tell me you didn't. You said "it was pretty hard, but [you] managed." That means you didn't eat it. Then why did you have a heating pad on your tummy?

Gee, you and I spent the holiday doing the same thing. Easter with heating pads on our tummies! Isn't that unfair? Don't you feel cheated?

I'm feeling much better, thank you. Just a real big bloated tummy and terrible gas -- but no cramps. Awfully tired too. Have you noticed how this problem of ours is so EXHAUSTING on the system? All I've done for the past two days is take naps! Boy, that turkey pepperoni was SOOOO not worth it!

Hope you feel better soon too, Girlfriend. Next Easter we'll do better, I guarantee it.

Bev

No Bev, I didn't eat any of it, I was a good girl! I got a double whammy, dinner was steak, ceasar salad, and macaroni salad (probably would have been safe excpet for high fat content) and then brunch the next day was the eggs, bacon, sausage etc! And so much Easter treats! His mom bought all this chocolate and other treats but I resisted.
My stomach was sadly bothering me anyways, I haven't seemed to get stable yet and am still having a lot of cramps, so if I can, I prefer to sit with the heating pad on just for comforts sake. I try and look at it positive, I'm not getting any worse but I'm not getting any better. Hopefully soon though.
Glad to hear you're feeling better
Kelly

Hi Bev, yes I am new. I've only posted a few times but you did reply the first time I did and linked me to your own story(i appreciated this immensely! This was the first time I heard my problems described by someone else and a solution).

I have Heather's books and I've been following the diet for about a month and a half. My problem being that I am so afraid of attacks that I avoid any foods aside from soluble fiber and chicken like the plague....well actually I've been avoiding all foods like the plague but getting better at it. I started taking citrucel on Friday but stopped because I am having a bad episode of D. Is this right?

On Friday I purchased the acacia supplements, teas and hypno cds and cannot wait to get them in the mail! I stopped taking the Donnatal about two weeks ago and my new GI gave me Levsin to take nightly. I really do hope that the cds are everything that I have heard people say about them. I am in a bad way here with the depression and panic attacks brought on by the pain from IBS. My doc recommended Effexor but I hate to take antidepressants.

Good luck with your meeting tomorrow and hope your easter did get better. Mine went much better than the morning. My adorable mom even made me a basket with vegan cookies, a mini box of corn pops and pez(she said because they don't have dairy lol).

Thanx,
Megs

SUCKS BIG TIME!!! My stomach is gnawing horribly almost to where I feel sick, my butt hurts, and I can't sit down for more than a few minutes before I am running for the toilet again. BLEAH. I am so totally over this.
All I can think about is what I am going to eat once it's all over. I have hypoglycemia, and it has been really hard getting my blood sugar under control with this stupid prep. I don't know how they prep diabetics! UGH!

Anyhow, I am so sorry I am just bitching and moaning, but this really sucks and I had to vent. I am so right there with you, sister! I hope you feel better.

Jen
