Bad day. Bad weekend. Bad Easter.

Two days ago I had some turkey pepperoni and roasted zucchinis. The cramps began shortly after the zukes. That was Friday afternoon. I've still got cramps.

I originally blamed the zukes, but now I think I'm wrong; after all, I had roasted new potatoes before the zukes. It must have been the turkey pepperoni. I had it along with a potato roll and some melted soy cheese.

I'm bummed out because: (1) I refuse to take the Donnatal, even though I know it'll get rid of the cramps, since it's such dangerous stuff. And (2) it's Easter, and hubby and I had reservations at my fave restaurant, Anthony's Seafood, where they serve my absolutely favorite dish, Salmon Salad Bowl. We had to cancel the reservations, and hubby went across town to one of our storage facilities to work on some furniture refinishing, while I sit here in the recliner with a hot pad on my tummy.

Okay, feelin' a little sorry for myself right now. Poor, poor pitiful me -- while everyone else is eating Easter eggs and chocolate bunnies, all I can do is go out in the garden and eat worms.....

Im not that bad, but I did have a small IBS attack this morning after a good couple weeks of relative calm. Ugh! Good thing I planned a safe dinner or Id be REALLY miserable.
STILL, if you get some family time today, that'll be the most important thing for Easter. That salad will still be there next time, waiting for ya. I hope you feel better soon! (never heard of Turkey pepperoni but I think I'll avoid it now even if I see it )
Hope you can find a way to still enjoy Easter.

Yes, of course you're right about family. And we're gonna try to celebrate at Anthony's tomorrow. It's okay, no big deal.

I used to have turkey pepperoni on my soy cheese pizza, and it never bothered me before, but this time it sure did a number on me!

Hope you feel better soon too. And Happy Easter!

Bev

So sorry to hear that you are having a less than happy easter! I know the feeling for sure though. I woke up at a lovely 5:00 this morning so ill and not much has changed. I sinned yesterday and am paying for it big time(not to mention it is the first day of my period) I was so depressed over constantly being sick and having panic attacks and not being able to celebrate easter like normal with my family that I went and bought my favorite Fettuccini Alfredo w/chicken. I got all the way home with it before I realized I simply couldn't eat it and gave it away to my dad. I then went back out and bought two chicken strips from the store. Those unfortunately did not get given away and i ate them. It is the first thing that I have had in over a month that has more than say 5 grams of fat on any given day. I too am not taking the Donnatal because it makes me feel terrible mentally though I am convinced that it would stop this pain and nastiness. I hope you get to enjoy the day eventually.

-Megs <----not eating chocolate bunnies and easter eggs either

Are you new to the Boards? I haven't seen you around. Welcome!

Do you have Heather's book(s)? Are you following the program? How long? Are you taking a soluble fiber supplement? Which one? How much? If you're taking Donnatal, I assume you're a D, like me?

Yes, that Donnatal is dangerous stuff. I didn't realize it until recently, and now I understand why my GI didn't want to give it to me. I just wont' take it, I just won't (but these cramps are beginning to sway me otherwise .....)

I haven't had an attack in months, so I really have no need to complain. It's just that I'm such a big baby. (Besides, I have an important meeting tomorrow that I absolutely MUST attend, so I have got to get myself better before then.)

Depression and panic attacks? Megs, have you thought at all about the hypnotherapy program? It totally got rid of my anxiety, and I never had another panic attack. You might go into the hypnosis board and read the success stories (mine is there too); I think it can help you a lot.

Thanks for your kind wishes, Megs (LOVE that name! It's like our Miss Mags!), and I too hope your Easter gets better.

Bev

Hey Bev I feel for you. I have this weekend off. I played hockey last night and I figured after I was done, since I had the weekend off, had been eating well and just exercised, I'd have a little bit of an Easter treat. A couple small Lindt Lindor truffles. It had been so long since I had one, I could handle it right? wrong.

wow, worst attack in a really really long time, cramps, 'D', and a long time in the 'washroom'. The works. Luckily my roommate's girlfriend is up visiitng and she's been recently sick so there was a hot water bottle around, used that on my stomach for the rest of the evening. Ah well, at least chocolate won't look so appealing anymore.

Happy Easter,
Jamie

Poor Bev. I feel for you. I'm not doing anything exciting for Easter at all either. Nope. I'm just working on a paper. I have eight pages done today though, so I think I'm going to knock off and do some other homework for awhile. If I'm really lucky I'll take time today to read my New York Times.

Pretty lame, huh? I'll be thinking about you though.

I have sympathy for you...Holiday eating is often the worst. I'm just in the middle of the Passover holiday and thought., "Well things are ok- how about a couple of maccroons and then I thought how about a slice of cake..." All's well until the next morning when I went out for my usual 6 mile run....Thank G-d there were two Starbuck's on my route...WE've all been there. I'm slowly learning to say no- hold back and respect my body more. Additionally, as a recent doagnosee, I'm starting hypnotherapy on Monday...I'll report back soon.

Happy Easter/HAppy Passover/Happy Stomaches

Evan

Boooo!
I'm so sorry you got sick for Easter, that really sucks. Hopefully you are right about what gave you the cramps in the first place so you can avoid it happening again.
I hope you do make it out to your restaurant and are feeling better soon.

Poor tummy I feel for you, I had the same thing after my Passover dinner earlier this week. A few popovers are good for me right? Soluble fiber? WRONG...Apparently they are made with egg yolks and oil. Ouch.

Hang in there, make some Rice Krispy treats in the shape of eggs and throw a little food coloring in. Then you'll at least have some easter dessert! One though, if the turkey pepperoni made you ill, try Jennie O Extra Lean turkey bacon. I find if you make it in the microwave, instead of the toaster oven, it gets very crispy, and could definetly pass for pepperoni. See if it bothers you. Happy Easter!
