Yesterday, I ran out of my Oscar body bath, so I had to make a trip to the Mall today. I got to joking around with the lady at the Macy's Fragrance Counter while she was preparing my bill, and I commented on the bowl of coffee beans in front of me. (I asked her if I could have them.) Damn they smelled good! (Did you know they use those coffee beans for customers to smell in between all the different fragrances, to "neutralize" the odors?) When I told her I couldn't have coffee because of my IBS, she said, "Oh, I used to have IBS!"

"USED to?" I asked. "You mean you had it but were HEALED?"

"Well, I've been in remission for so long now that I don't even think about it anymore."

" WHAAAT?!" I said, in total shock.

"I've been totally symptom-free for the past ten years. I used to have to take an anti-spasmodic every day -- for four years. Now I don't think about it at all, no cramps, no nothing. Oh, I still take all my fiber, and of course I eat right and exercise, but no symptoms at all. No, I don't think about my IBS anymore -- not AT ALL."

"Wow," I responded, "How'd you do it?"

"It was all diet -- proper food -- and exercise."

So, folks, I'm here to tell ya, it can happen. You know, she really MADE MY DAY!

Wow Bev!! Thanks for sharing your story with us!! It helps to know that there are people who actually learn how to control their IBS so well that they don't even have to think about it anymore.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you if you cross yours for me!!

No prob, Girlfriend! I love the name Bevvy. Some of my friends call me Bevvy, some call me Bevrs. Even some call me Bev.

No one -- NO ONE -- ever calls me the "erly" part (and lives to see tommorow).

Right on. Similarly, I answer to Jenny, Jen, and from my sisters Jen Jen, but the only person who can call me Jennifer is my 87 year old Nana.

You're welcome, Girlfriend. I think about that story a lot. That's my goal -- to get it in remission.

Bev, Thanks for the story. I know that is my dream to be free from IBS. If I had to change anything about myself it would be to have a normal stomach.
