I have positive news for once! After 4 weeks of d (the first 4 weeks of taking zoloft) it began to work! One day I realized that my anxiety was less, and that I hadn't had to run to the bathroom after my zoloft dose. My constant obsessive thoughts about the ibs calmed down and became less and less frequent and the d subsided.

After 5 days of that, I left for a 12 day trip in Europe with my wife, that I'd been very tense about. My health and outlook held up, and we had a wonderful time. We stayed with friends so i was able to cook breakfast every day and most dinners too, and had their help in finding health food stores to buy wheat free things.

I know that Heather recommends against zoloft and similar ssri's for ibs-d folks in her book, but it does seem to be really helping - for 3 weeks straight so far, and I've been so sick for the past 2 years that this is a major accomplishment!
