I finally found a health food store today that had non-dairy margarine...however they only had one kind and I"m not sure about other ingredients in it. I was hoping if I posted them here so of you pros could tell if it sounds ok:
It says it's transfat free, dairy free and gluten free. Here's the ingredients:
Expeller-Pressed Natural Oil Blend: (soybean, palm fruit, canola seed and olive), filtered water, pure salt, natural falvor (dervied from corn, no MSG, no alcohol, no gluten), soy protein, soy lecithin, lactic acid (non-dairy, derived from sugar beets), and beta-carotene color (from natural source).
That's all of it! Seems like a lot...anyways, hopefully someone can shed some light on whether this sounds ok.
Thanks!
Kelly

Is the name of the margarine Expeller-Pressed Natural Oil Blend or is that the first ingredient? If its the name, then that is the main ingredient in Soy Garden, which is a safe non-hydronated margarine. Either way, it looks pretty safe to me when used in small quantities.

The name is Earth Balance Natural Buttery spread, the Non-Gmo Expeller Pressed Oils is the first ingredient. Why do you say it would be safe in small quanities? Is there a reason to only eat it in small amounts?

Oh - Earth Balance is great. That's the one I use.

You have to use it in small amounts because of the fat content. Although there is no dairy, butter is still fatty.

Hi Kelley,

I use that. It's ok with me, in small amounts.

The oil can set off IBS, but in small amounts it's ok.
I used it tonight on my vegs., and have some gas. So just use alittle.
