Don't Kill Me for this...is Mr. Noodle a safe food?

Ok, here's a question for everyone, are Mr. Noodle noodle soups ok? I used to *always* fall back on those when my tummy would get really bad, firstly because they are so quick to cook and second because I figured it's just noodles and chicken flavoring right? But after reading these boards and seeing some of the other foods that aren't so safe that I thought were safe, I'm thinking this one may not be a good idea. Any thoughts?

All this "don't slap me," "don't kill me" stuff... we must be an intimidating board!

I don't know what Mr Noodle is (don't kill me!)

Hey, we're not violent (not really!).

Check the ingredients list for milk, whey, casein and MonoSodium Glutamate (MSG). MSG is likely, but some people can tolerate a little bit. I have my noodles with soy sauce now - yummy!

Well, maybe they figure we're all surly because we're in pain. Of course, we're also probably too busy in the bathroom to drive to wherever they live and hurt them.

No no, no one seems violent...it was just an expression. I was just thinking based on a lot of things I read here about what is safe and what isn't, and a lot of packaged foods with lots of preservatives aren't...and these things are very packaged and they cost only 33cents, so it kinda send out warning bells for me. I'll have to check the ingredient list a little more carefully. There's so much in it and I don't know what half of it is, but I'll look for the things mentioned here.
Thanks!

How can I with friends like you?

Seriously...I was SO DEPRESSED earlier! I went for a job interview for the WRONG JOB! My friend told me it was for sales...it was an OFFIC JOB! (I am NOT an offic job kinda gal!) I NEED a job...NOW! The assistant teaching thing...I haven't actually started...and I'm DREADING it! So I'm trying to find something else. I have an interview this afternoon for a shoe sales position...I'll let you know how it goes.

But the interview...the woman was a WITCH! I apologized for taking her time when we realized it wasn't the right fit...and she jut stared at me! Like, excuse me for taking her time--she took mine too! GRRRRR!

Then on my way home from the interview, I went to the grocery store. As I was pulling out of the parking lot, this lady came straight at me for my spot! So I got nervous and brushed the mail truck behind me! *yikes!* Thank G-d, I didn't even leave a dent...but the stupid lady didn't even wanna wait for me to get out of the car and check the mail truck! Oooh, that made me boil!

Plus, hubby is home sick and we're not seeing eye to eye on finances. I need hypoallergenic cleaners (I'm allergic to dust, we found out on Mon.), and I also need some new make up. The 1st is a necessity, the 2nd will be if I get a sales job. Plus, I NEED it to feel pretty right now...I look like a WHALE over here! I'm so puffy and bloated

So that's my day so far.

Bu it's looking up. Y'all crack me up! Thanks for the laughs...and for letting me vent!

Love,
Ruchie

I swear, you are in need of a new month! A fresh start! Let's do March over.... I'm sorry your interview was a time waster. That's always horrible. And then to have her top it off by being a pain in the butt-- good thing you weren't interested in the job. Can you imagine if she were your boss?! I'm sure she's always as NOT-charming.

I hate people in parking lots sometimes... I think they check their brains as they enter them. I'm lucky, I've never had to punch anyone in the face yet, but ONE DAY...!!!!

I've been a little depressed, too. I think it's the weather down here. I am ready for a little sun, I guess. It's been overcast too long. And we never really got a proper winter. I love winter, but if it's going to behave this way (dismal, grey, drizzly...) then just forget it and lets move on to Spring.

I've been so tired with this dumb CFS or whatever it is... It's really bumming me out a lot. I've been in bed (and asleep) before 8 every night this week. Last night was going to be my big night out. My knitting shop has a Stitch and B*tch and I was going to go. Turned out that it was cancelled. Didn't find that out 'til I got to the store. (I know her kids were sick this weekend, so that's probably why. I'm not mad at her, of course, just disappointed!) So much for my "big night out."

I need a date. That would fix me!

Ah well...

I'm glad we can make you laugh. You guys make me laugh all the time, too. And never apologize for venting. As you can see, we all need to vent, too (see above re: depression!)

SMOOCHES, Ruchie!

I really mean this...this board is my therapy! I've never been able to kid around much--I'm a real serious type. But by gosh I'm learning thanks to all of you!

Thank, Ruchie. I appreciate it.

I know that "they" (the illusive "they" who sit somewhere saying important things!) say that CFS and Fibro are related. I don't know. I was told by my doctor that I have chronic fatigue syndrome which is why I feel the need to sleep 14 hours a day (barely an exaggeration ). Not that he told me what to do with that information.

I get frustrated a lot recently, especially since I had attributed a lot of my exhaustion to the IBS (being in pain), but now that I'm fairly stable (*knock on wood*), I'm still tired. It's a real struggle for me to make it through the week at work. The only thing I know to do is keep sleeping! I'm looking into acupuncture and I added some protein supplements to my day, trying to build up some energy. It's kinda working in the mornings so I can get through work, but nothing seems to keep me awake in the pms! I'm going to give it another week or so then go BAAAACK to the Doctor. (Seems like we all live in there, doesn't it!? )

Hang around me a bit, Ruchie, and we'll have you teasing and kidding up a storm!

Have they run tests...I mean bloodwork tests? I'm REALLY concerned for you! when a person has CFS it usually means something isn't working right, right? (What do I know)?

I hope you're ok. And I hope they get to the bottom of this for you soon! I know what it's like to be too sick and tried to work...and it WREAKS!

Let me know if you try acupuncture. I'd LOVE to (when we can afford it!) when do you take the protein? Just in the am? Have you tried taking some in the afternoons too for a boost? What about exercise? (I'm sure I'm not mentioning anything new...but I sure wanna help!)

I hope you get better NOW!

Love,
Ruchie

Thanks, Ruchie. I hope I get better now, too. I hope you get better now and Bevrs and Nugget and EVERYONE!!! NOW! RIGHT NOW!

I've got to scrimp a bit to afford the acupuncture, but I may cheat a bit and see if the acupuncture school nearby does it for cheaper so their students can practice!

Yes, I need to go back to the Dr, but it's my understanding (and what do I know!?) that there's not definitive test for CFS just as there isn't one for IBS. I've had just about every test imaginable to figure out why I'm tired. Normal everything. Just like with my tummy. IF WE'RE SO NORMAL, WHY DO WE FEEL SO CRUDDY!?!?

I have tried the protein in the afternoon, but it doesn't perk me up like my smoothie. I think at that point of the day I'm just too pooped for much to help. Right now, for example, this screen is swimming in front of me, I'm so tired. OH WELL. No need to whine!

My doc said "exercise at lunch time." That's it. That was his big advice. (I love my doc, he's actually a friend of mine, but still... that's not much help!) I can't exercise at lunch 'cause I work a Union job and can't leave for more than an hour. The best I can do is take walks, which I try to do. They just make me sleepier.

You are helping, just by getting me talking about it. Thank you!

I will diet with you and Bev if you're getting a little mini support-groupy thing together.... That's if Bev doesn't mind!? (You know she doesn't like me too much! )

Wow, thanks for sharing all of this with me! You should totaly check out the local school--newbies are usually more enthusiastic and much more compasssionate...you know, they haven't been eaten by the cynical bug yet!

Doctors don't know too much do they? It's very--unsettling! Most of em' are good ppl...they just don't know how to say "I don't know!" I hope they can help you get to the root cause...in the meantime, good for you for having such a TERRIFIC attitude!!!!!!!

Yep, you're right...Bev doesn't like you at all....NOT! Jump right in and join our diet club! You don't look like you need to from your pic (neither does Bev!!!) but you're more than welcome in our club any time!

Any other takers out there? Wanna jump on our diet wagin?

Keep me posted on how you're doing Jen...I REALLY care!

Hey you guys!

Count me in on the diet wagon. I'm trying to do WW, but today I have the munchies BAD! I bothered to make the zero-point vege broth yesterday, so I'm hoping it doesn't upset my tummy today - then I can eat all I want. Yippee!

Jen, figured something out over the last couple of days (my days off) - I think we need to work outside! I was having SUCH a sleepy day yesterday - nearly fell asleep in my car in the supermarket car park! But then I made myself go do some gardening and I really perked up! Went back inside and promptly crashed! Indoors is SLEEEEEEEEPY - Zzzzzzz.

Talk soon.

An outdoor chocolate kitchen.....

Er... that doesn't sound so practical. But you're right, Linz. I need to be in the sun a little more (with SPF 40000!). That will give me tons more energy. Hell, anything that would get me moving would help! I just sit in front of the stupid computer all day. THAT doesn't help!

Thanks, Ruchie, but that's why we post headshots!

I want to lose about 10 or 15 pounds. Not sure exactly how much- I'll know when I get there. Just a little off around the hiney and the hips and I'll be a happy girl--- as long as the bra size stays the same!

Hi Kelly; I eat the Campbell's Noodles in a cup, the ones you add boiling water too and sit for 3 mins.(are those what you are talking about?) Sometimes I also have soda crackers with the soup as well. I'm out of them at the moment to check ingredients but they are safe with me!! If you can tolerate them go for it!! Sue

Jen!!!
I had no idea you were another member of the fibro/CFS family!! I have fibro and yes there is a big overlap between the two. One of the research orgs just decided to consider them the same thing for research purposes.

You're absolutely correct that there's no lab test they can do to confirm it, but there is a diagnostic protocol that can result in a definitive diagnosis. There's also a number of treatment protocols that help tremendously.

There's a ton of info on the web. Just type CFS or fibromyalgia into Google and start learning what you can do to feel better. And IT'S NOT ALL IN OUR HEAD ANY MORE THAN IBS IS!!!

Why is it always the sweetest, funniest people like you and Ruchie that have to get sick? And Linz too I think, if I'm remembering right (fibrofog ain't no myth). It's one thing for the 50 year old cranks like me to be too sick to work and going to bed at 8:00. The world isn't fair when it's you pretty ladies that shouldn't have a care in the world.

I'm going to file a complaint somewhere, if I can just figure out what department handles this!!!
