I thought it was just one or the other and have spent much time trying to prove to myself which one it was. So this is very interesting information. I may have to try Jen's approach to Heathers diet or go back to the doctors armed with information and asked to be tested again.

While I can answer yes to a lot of the symptoms, I don't fit the biggest criteria; my problem is just the opposite -- GAINING weight, not losing it.

Ruchie, how're ya doin' with the no-sugar thing? I'm doin' pretty good. Had sugar withdrawals yesterday, so fixed myself a little cocoa, and I was fine; no other sugar, not even in my tea, which is a big thing for me. Hubby wanted waffles for breakfast, but I can't eat them without syrup -- so instead I fixed pancakes and put a ton of blueberries in my part of the batter (no fruit for hubby! ), and instead of syrup used blueberry preserves. That's not sugar, right?

I LOVE not having such a big appetite, and I sure slept wonderfully -- what a treat!

You doin' well? Not eating as much? Are we happy campers, or WHAT?!

... went wonderfully. I had a hard time around 2:00 p.m. (again), so I had a cocoa. But I did real well -- even forgot to eat while I was goin' hot-n-heavy with my sewing machine. Fixed dinner, then back to the sewing. Forgot my evening snack, so just now had a small banana. Yum.

Yeah, I done GOOOOOD. I e-mailed you, honey -- did you get it? It had some GREAT advice from Michael in it about eating and stuff.

Come on, now, Girlfriend, you can do this -- if I can, YOU can! I have a LOT FARTHER to go than you, believe me, but I'm off to a darn good start!

Yeah, I feel SOOO much better without sugar. Heather once again led me down the right path when she suggested it earlier this week.

You're right -- tomorrow you'll do better. We BOTH will! Sleep tight, sugah.

Hi Jen,
I am farily new to this IBS diet. I was so called diagnosed with IBS about 2 weeks ago. I say so called because my doctor pretty much said, well your tests came back fine, no signs of cancer or polops, or crones, so it sounds like you have IBS. Of course he didn't say that is what I had until I demanded that something was wrong. I told him that it isn't normal for a person to have severe pains and bloating and gas after every meal. That is when he said well I think you have IBS...nice doctor huh. (I am in the process of trying to find another doctor)..Ok now to my question...sorry kind of got off the topic Now that i am trying to follow this new IBS diet my biggest concern is weight gain. I LOVE fruits and veggies and was eating them all day long as snacks. This I found was one of the reasons for my attacks. So what do I do now? In the past I followed Weight Watchers and lost about 15 pounds and have kept it off....however now, how do I follow it? Since I use to eat all the fruits and veggies and low fat wheat bread I don't know where to begin. I am finding that I am getting very depressed and discouraged about all this. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
