Hello, Does anyone know what fiber supplements or brands come in pill-form in Canada? I've got the Acacia from this website but I want to get a good pill-form supplement as well for when I'm not at home, but I don't know what brands are available in Canada. Any Canadians out there who can help me? Thanks!

Hey there...I was wondering the exact same thing!! I went to a health food store and was told that they had no idea what I was talking about. I was also told by somebody else that you can get it prescribed by your doctor...i think it's called fibre therapy or something.

Hey there! I've found a tiny tupperware box to put some Acacia in that I can keep in my handbag. Those pills don't have much fibre in them.

Hmm, I'll have to look into that from my doctor. I don't know how you tolerate psyllium, but I found one brand of pill fibre at Costco called Prodium (I think that's how it was spelt) but it had insoluble fiber in it so that's not for me. Let me know if you find anything! Kelly

It was you that was asking about the fibre supplements in pill form!! I posted another message saying that I couldn't remember who was asking this before....BUT I found a pill form fibre supplement at "For Your Good Health"....it's a health food store in Toronto...I'm sure if you look at any health food store they'll have something similar. Good luck!!

Hi!
I started taking the Acacia a few months ago and it has made my life so much easier!!! I really don't think we can buy it in Canada, but I don't mind ordering it through the internet. I had terrible bloating problems with psyllium and I was very scared to try another supplement but once I did and realized the acacia was so easy to digest, I felt quite relieved!! What's the name of the product you bought in Toronto? Maybe they have it here too...

Prodiem actually contains calcium polycarbophil, which is a soluble fiber. It goes under the name Equalactin or Fibercon in the US. Heather includes this ingredient on her list of ok soluble fiber supplements (see IBS supplements on the web site). Because of the low amount of fiber per pill, you have to take two at a time, every four hours. I've been taking Heather's acacia fiber, but ran out. So I picked the Prodiem up at the drugstore and have been taking it, until my acacia fiber comes in. I would say that it's something you can use in conjunction with the acacia, if you're looking for a pill form of soluble fiber. I bloated up a bit when I first started taking it, but am ok now after a few days - and this is taking only the Prodiem. I am still going to go back to the acacia fiber, but will use Prodiem as a back-up in the future. Also, my doctor prescribed Dicetel (50mg), which is truly amazing. It's not a fiber supplement, but it is an antispasmodic that really calms things down when you need it. I believe Dicetel is only available in Canada. Hope this helps!

Thanks for the info I've been looking it up on the net, and all I can find is info on the powder version, and it says it contains psyllium, which is my main concern because that really doesn't sit well with me. Do you know if the pills have it to? BTW, I'm on Dicetel as well, and I agree, it has really helped! Thanks, Kelly

Good news! I found the Prodiem web site. And the pills aren't the same as the powder format. You are right, the powder is psyllium, but the pills are not ... I quote: "New PRODIEM BULK FIBRE THERAPY CAPLETS contain an innovative fibre, calcium polycarbophil, for effective and gentle relief of constipation with no gas or bloating and discomfort." Here's the web site: Prodiem web site. I picked mine up at Shopper's Drug Mart, in a 90 pill bottle. Good luck!

Thanks so much! I must be in a daze because I couldn't find the website at all! So you say it's the same as equalactin eh? Except not chewable I guess...I'll have to pick some up! I too take the Acacia and love it, so I'm just looking for something for in between. Kelly
