Hi everyone, I'm 25 and I live in Poland. I found this message board by accident, but I'm really glad about that, 'coz I'm also a IBS ( mostly C) sufferer. My biggest problems are bloating and gas . I take some medicines available here in Poland (primarily stuff with dimethicone) and it helps a little. However, I have to avoid a whole bunch of foods I bloat immediately after dinner - it doesn't matter what I eat Besides, I can't wear tight clothes (the tummy does stick out;) I consider myself a fairly cheerful person, but sometimes I feel so depressed because of my condition that I'm not able to imagine myself living like that anymore. I hope to share with you guys here, share not only advice but mostly hope for better times.
Cheers!

Wow! Poland! Gee, you'll have to go into the Living Room Board and tell us all about what it's like living in Poland.

So glad you found these Boards! Everyone here has helped me so much; I got a lot better as a result -- and you will too.

I've never heard of dimethicone; what is it? A soluble fiber supplement, perhaps?

Are you on Heather's eating program? Do you have her book(s)? If not, you should get them because they'll help you a lot.

Don't worry about that nasty depression -- we here on the Boards won't let you be depressed! After all, we're all in the same boat.

Again, welcome rachelgreen!

Bev

Thanks Bev for really nice welcome!! I do hope my health will improve, too No, I haven't tried Heather's eating program yet - I've just started reading through all the website. As for books, I'm not sure if it's possible to get them here, but I'll think of buying them via Internet or sth like that. As for dimethicone, I don't exactly know what it is , but it's a component of many anti-bloating medicines 'coz it binds and removes the bubbles of gas from the intestine.
Once again thanks!!
Cheers
PS: BTW, life in Poland isn't so much different that anywhere, I guess )) but I willingly share!

Welcome! Glad you found us! I think your our firt person from Poland!

I believe Heather can ship her books and products directly to you and we have lots of people outside the united states!

We ALL get depressed over the IBS now and then. I can totally relate about the bloating and gas, thats my biggest compliant as well. I have different pants I wear on "good belly" days and "bad belly" days! A lot of time I will leave for work in the am feeling fine in my clothes and after lunch I'm so bloated I have to unbutton them! I always wear long shirts! Drawstring pants with no elastic are the best if you can find them!

Feel free to ask questions and vent any time!

Welcome from me, as well...

I am also new to the boards; and I have to say that the people here are extremely kind and helpful.

IBS is definitely a condition that we can all overcome. I just have to keep reminding myself that it takes time...

On a related note: Both of Heather's books are available on Amazon.com.

Hello rachelgreen!
Welcome to the boards! I'm fairly new here, and I was in absolute misery when I first found this place. But Heather's diet advice on this site and all of the wonderful people here with their words of wisdom; has really made a big change in my condition. I'm actually getting to where I'm not afraid to eat now. I look forward to it! You will get better, too. Also, don't be afraid to ask or talk about anything you need to. Everyone of us has been there to one degree or another!!

Hi there! First off, welcome to the boards!

Second, I LOVE your name! Do you watch Friends? She's my fav character! (I'm sure people tease you about htis a lot!)

IBS can be tough! I am also mostly a C sufferer. There's lots of great info. on tips to deal with IBS C (do a search for Poop).

Btw, I'm also 25! Sometimes it can get you down to be so young and sick...but the bright side is: we're young AND RESILIENT!

If there are any questions we can answer or if there's anything you need...just ask!

*hugs*

No - I can't believe it's ending!! It comes on tonight. But, you can't watch it, can you? Between that and Sex & the City, I don't know how I'm going to survive! LOL I heard they're going to have a spinoff of Friends, I think called "Joey"? Not really sure.

But, I'll end it here, cuz this is LR talk! LOL

Hi Ruchie, of course I watch Friends!! And Rach is my fav character, too! Why would I choose such a nickname? I watch the sitcom so much that I know by heart most best dialogues ) Anyway, you're right - it's good to be 25, even with IBS .
Cheers!!

Welcome to the boards, Rachel! I'm 24 (right there in that same age range... we're the "young 'uns" ) and also mostly a C sufferer. You've come to the right place if you want to get things under control. This board has done wonders for me and so many other people. I look forward to seeing you around, and please ask us any questions that come up!

By the way, I love Friends too! I'm watching the clock because it comes on in less than an hour... I can wait to see which episode was chosen as one of the 6 best.

Hi Rachel,
Welcome! Yep, along with Ruchie and Kree, I'm also in your age range (a few days shy of 24). There are so many helpful people on this board with lots of experience with IBS, so you've come to the right place! Heather has the best advice on dealing with IBS---she's done more for many of us than our doctors have!

Just curious...where are you in Poland? I'm starting Polish next year,so I can get beyond my minimal Polish phrases, and I'm totally into Polish history (though technically I study Germany)

My word!! I did not realize how young some people on this board were. I'm happy for it though. On the birthday list not too many people put the year they were born...LOL. I love it here on this board. It's like having a whole other set of friends and a lot of them! Finally, someone who understands IBS and dear Heather who knows how to help. Blessings!

Wow! You're gonna learn Polish? Amazing! I've taught Polish to a few people..I live in Bielsko-Biala, it's a city in the south of Poland, about 140 kilometers from the Tatra Mountains. I'll be glad to give you a couple of hints about anything.
Good luck!

Hi Rachel, I'm new to the board and to just being diagnosed with IBS. I also hav the bloating problem later in the day no matter what I eat. It is so good to know that I'm not the only one. Do you have any advise on how to control it? I am going out to buy the fennel tea and a soluble fiber supplement to see if that works. Good to have somene to share with. Thanks Eilene from Florida USA

Yes, unfortunately bloating is a big problem for us all. The fennel tea will help, and so might the fiber. If you eat gas-producing foods like beans (and for me turkey sausage), then Beano usually helps a lot. I also keep a supply of Gas-X in my emergency medicine cabinet in my purse.

Good to have you on board, Eilene From Florida USA!
