Hi Guys need some help from those with more experience than I. Since being diagnosed with IBS I have done the usual of elimating trigger foods and adjusting my diet...but I now have what looks like an iron deficiency. I can't eat meats other than a small amount of chicken, spinach is out, so is orange juice and nuts of any description. Now that I am on Soy products I thought my iron would still be OK, but have just found out that Soy inhibits the absorption of iron to a degree!! Any suggestions on what to eat, or a good supplement that won't give me nausea or overdose me!

One thing that can help is to cook in cast iron pans. Just use lots of non-stick spray.........lol.

Hi! I replied to you last week, and my computer crashed, and I'm just now getting back to you (again)...sorry!

Anyway, I'm trying to bump up my iron to donate blood next month. I found this great website for tips: www.beefinfo.org/bh_iron.cfm

Obviously, you can't have the red meat, pork and things like that, but I saw on the chart shrimp is higher than chicken in iron, and plus it shows you how to combine different types of foods to get the best absorption.

Hope this helps!
