I'm in a bad mood today for a number of reasons, which would be okay, everyone's allowed to feel their feelings. But I'm too grumpy to take proper care of myself, including eating right. I'm telling on myself here to motivate me to go eat something healthy. My stomach's too empty and I'm asking for trouble. I feel like a lump. Like someone is holding me down in my chair and I don't have the strength to get up. Pity party time!!!! Somebody find me a party hat icon or smiley while I go get something to eat, okay???

Ah yes, the days o' surly. I have those too.
Let's see, what can I tell you that will cheer you up?
Ok, here's a random joke off of the internet:
Quote:
Sister Anne's Hot Tip
Sitting by the window in her convent, Sister Anne opened a letter from home and found a $10 bill inside. As she read the letter she caught sight of a shabbily dressed stranger leaning against a lamppost below.
Quickly she wrote, "Don't despair, Sister Anne" on a piece of paper, wrapped the $10 in it and dropped it out the window.
The stranger picked it up and, with a puzzled expression and a tip of his hat, went off down the street.
The next day Sister Anne was told that a man was at the door, insisting on seeing her. She went down and found the stranger waiting. Without a word, he handed her a roll of bills. "What's this?" she asked.
"That's the 60 bucks you have coming. Don't Despair paid five to one."

Okay, Laura, this should do the trick. (This went around on the boards awhile back, but I think you missed it.)

Oh Laura, we've all had those days, really. I get down sometimes when I know I can't deviate from this blasted diet, one bit. I do, with something simple, like more than one unsoluble fiber food at a meal, and I pay....bummer. Then things like going to the movies, and NO popcorn or coke? Another bummer...........And like you, sometimes I just don't ever want to eat, (but that's seldom, unfortunately)...........So, now that you've listened to my beef........here is something for you to try. Quote:
THIS IS WILD
This is sooooo stupid but true . . . . . .and it's going to drive you crazy!
While sitting at your desk, lift your right foot off the floor and make clockwise circles.
Now, while doing this, draw the number "6" in the air with your right hand.
Your foot will change direction and there's nothing you can do about it!

How did you know I was boo hooing because I couldn't eat popcorn!?!?! One of my coworkers made popcorn for lunch, and the aroma floated all the way back to my office. MMMMMMMMMMMM!!! I love popcorn, and at the movies, it is soooo hard. Pretzels just are not the same. I really do miss it. The price we pay to stay healthy I did the little exercise with the foot, and you were right, it was funny. I guess we all just need to hang in there. This time of year is difficult. This board really does make my spirits better. It makes me laugh, which is a good thing this time of year.

Hi Marlene,
I don't know what made me think of the movie popcorn...guess it's because I'm meeting my aerobic instructor (young enuf to be my daughter) and her daughter (who has the same birthdate as mine) for a day at the movies on Sunday to get away from the Super Bowl Sunday guys and have a late birthday celebration. I'm thinking, here we go again, haul my bottled water, rice cakes and no fat granola. (I'm allergic to wheat so can't have the pretzels.) When I'm with my old croney friends they all have health issues too, so understand my ordeal. But, they STILL eat the popcorn and drink cokes, even though they shouldn't, but they don't get sick when the do, like I would. Sheesh. Oh well, it could be worse........ Until then, guess we just have to be happy with the smell, ey? BTW, aren't you freezing. Here is a pic from a friend in Indianapolis. The pix in the very middle is a riot. Anything to bring a smile!!

LauraSue, I'm glad the english muffin helped your tummy. I know what those days are like, believe me! Here's another joke to make you laugh. It's been my favorite joke for years! web page
As for the popcorn, I'm with you girls, it's just not the same without it. I used to eat it all the time, and my parents still make some at least every other day! At first it drove me insane, but then I found Quakes (mini rice cakes), so while my parents are snacking on their popcorn I snack on my fat free and totally safe Quakes. Hey, it's not quite the same, but we do what we have to, right?

Is it cold in Indiana, well it is 3 degrees out right now and miserable........ I work in the superintendents office for a public school system and we did not have school the first 3 days of this week and a 2 hour delay the last two. With the windchill this a.m., it was 20-25 degrees below. Yep, getting tired of the cold and oh, we got a good 6-8 inches of snow this week too. I live 45 minutes from work, so that makes life interesting. My husband said this week, I am ready for a vacation somewhere warm...
