My educated guess is no it's probably not good. I'm sure others will know for sure!

Unfortunately, I believe that comes under the heading of NO. See pg. 26 of "The First Year" in which Heather states, under "Red Meat": "....ANYTHING ELSE that comes from cows, pigs, sheep, goats, deer, etc." (Emphasis added.)

To all those out there who are veal fans, I'm sorry. Don't shoot me; I'm just the messenger. (Val, you don't eat veal, do you? )

I also feel obliged to add... do you know how they treat those poor veal calves?? Veal is the one meat I've always refused to eat... and I don't refuse to eat much!

Hi!

I eat beef...
I eat very very lean ground beef once or twice a week and it's okay. Same thing with veal. I am not able to eat beans and I'm scared of getting iron deprived if I don't eat a little red meat every once in a while.

I think you can try it in very small quantities first and then, you'll see.

I know everybody says not to eat red meat, but the only times I had problems with it is when it wasn't lean enough. Other than that, it's fine.

I only do eat red meat when I'm in a good phase. Otherwise, I stick to fish, poultry and seafoods.

Hi,
Aside from the moral, ethical issues with veal, it is very low fat, especially the cutlets rather than the chops, so it should be okay. 20 years ago I had a diet cookbook that had a whole section on veal with calories, fat, protein etc, and it became one of my standard diet meals.

(All, I am NOT endorsing the treatment of the animals, just answering the factual question. Fortunately foie gras is too high fat so I don't have to worry about the ethics of forcefeeding geese!)

I've had great success with buffalo or bison- it's totally lean and tastes similar to beef. Leaner than veal, I would guess!

Hi; some years ago before ibs came along and I just had food allergies, my allergy doctor told me to try those meats. At the time it was all I could handle, I had steeaks and chops from bison and so forth. My favorite was venison, though.
