I think it has an anise flavor to it. I was buying mine in small containers from the spice aisle of my SuperWalmart. But, that's expensive and you don't get many cups out of one container. BUT, that would be a good way to try it out first to see if you like it. Now, I order mine from Heather. Comes in a big bag and lasts quite a while. It probably tells you how many cups it'll make, but everyone makes theirs a different strength so, I don't know that info. But, it's alot. Outside of ordering from Heather, I can't find big packages of it around me. It's so convenient and fast from Heather. Try it first in the little bottle from the spice section and if you like it, place an order!

I'm ditto-ing Tierny. I went down to the health food store and stocked up on different brands of tea bag stuff that had fennel it, then had my infamous taste tests. Of all the brands out there, Tummy Mint was the best -- so I stocked on the stuff. Wow, is it EXPENSIVE!

Unfortunately, it wasn't "cutting the muster" (wonder if that's another Brit slang?). Any-who.... I called Heather and ordered her fantastic fennel and peppermint. WOW! What a difference! Not only is her fennel a LOT less "licorice-y" (ew), but the peppermint is so fresh and fragrant and DELICIOUS, it overpowers the taste of the fennel (thank God!). Last, but certainly not least, it's a LOT LESS EXPENSIVE!

Goferit.

Do you know if you can buy just the licorace flavor?
I don't mind the licorace flavor and it really hides
the fennel taste.

Heather sells it here - very INexpensive.
It's just fennel seeds - you can also pick them up in the spice section of most grocers, even some bulk discount places. Just mash up a teaspoon or so with a knife or mortar and pestle and add boiling water to a teacup.
I HATE the taste of it - I often add some jasmine tea leaves to hide the flavour of it. Jasmine can be found in oriental food markets, and some grocery stores have it. It's just a nice flavour.
