I bought some 97% fat free Deli Select Hillshire Farm thin sliced Smoked Ham lunchmeat. I need to figure out how much fat is in it and since I can't do that and you are an expert, I thought I'd post the ingredients here and see what you come up with.
Serving Size is 6 slices: Calories 60. Calories from Fat 15 Total Fat 1.5g (2%), Saturated Fat 0.5g(3%),
I think thats all you need to calculate it right?
val..

So how come I lost your picture?
Val, is that PORK? It doesn't sound like turkey ham to me! You don't wanna be eating pork, do you?
Well, according to my calculations that stuff has only 23% fat per serving -- but it's PORK, man!
Ew.

Ew.
My picture is still here. Maybe it broke your monitor.
Okay so I'm within the fat range. What is wrong with pork? I don't usually eat ham but if it's in the right fat range won't it be okay?
I'm so confused..... LOL
Thank You Bevr

Hi Val!
Pork is a trigger. It's on the no-no list.

I've been wondering for a while if pork was considered red meat, but was afraid to ask. I eat it (usually in small amounts) and it's never bothered me. I thought maybe that meant it was okay. Isn't it "the other white meat"??

See pg. 8 of "Eating for IBS." Heather throws pork in the same category as beef and lamb -- red meat -- "one of the strongest IBS triggers."
Hey Val! I got your picture back! Wassup with that? You're quite a chamelion, my friend! How you do dat?

Or if you don't have the book handy (but who wouldn't? ), it's listed here also.

Val,
Two things. First I just read your story on your webpage. It was very inspiring and moving. I also live my life one day at a time, if you know what I mean, so I really related. Thanks for sharing.
Second, I've had IBS for years and despite what the others say, I've found that Hillshire ham to be very safe in small portions. I take three of those thin slices (half the normal portion size on the package) and roll them up in a flour tortilla and have a nice light lunch or snack. I've even been know to pop a couple in a baggie and stick it in my purse when traveling, as my backup meal in case of unforeseen problems.
Everybody's different, and moderation in all things. Take what you like and leave the rest!
