Hello,

I am thinking of trying the nutri grain bars. They do have a little bit if whey in them, (the whey is the 10th ingredient, meaning there is not that much of it) and the fruit fillings seem OK too.

What do you guys think? I will wait to hear from you before I eat one, since I am now out of town and CANNOT afford any kind of attack!

Has anyone here ever tried these??

Thanks much as always!!

Originally diagnosed with IBS-C in Spring, 2008. During spring to fall of 2008, had at least 10 acupuncture treatments and Chinese herbs. IBS went into remission. IBS returned in late July 2013 after taking 2 oral contrasts for a CT scan for cancer follow up. Had more acupuncture with different practitioner in summer 2014, but received little benefit.

Check the ingredients. For example here are the ingredients of the Blackberry NutriGrain bar . The items in bold are potential triggers. And this product has 3 grams of dietary fiber per 37 gram bar OR 8% dietary fiber by weight. I won't consider this to be an IBS safe product.

CRUST: WHOLE GRAIN OATS, ENRICHED FLOUR (WHEAT FLOUR, NIACIN, REDUCED IRON, VITAMIN B1 [THIAMIN MONONITRATE], VITAMIN B2 [RIBOFLAVIN], FOLIC ACID), WHOLE WHEAT FLOUR, SOYBEAN AND/OR CANOLA OIL, SOLUBLE CORN FIBER, SUGAR, DEXTROSE, FRUCTOSE, CALCIUM CARBONATE, WHEY, WHEAT BRAN, SALT, CELLULOSE, POTASSIUM BICARBONATE, NATURAL AND ARTIFICIAL FLAVOR, MONO- AND DIGLYCERIDES, SOY LECITHIN, WHEAT GLUTEN, NIACINAMIDE, VITAMIN A PALMITATE, CARRAGEENAN, ZINC OXIDE, REDUCED IRON, GUAR GUM, VITAMIN B6 (PYRIDOXINE HYDROCHLORIDE), VITAMIN B1 (THIAMIN HYDROCHLORIDE), VITAMIN B2 (RIBOFLAVIN), FILLING: INVERT SUGAR, CORN SYRUP, GLYCERIN, BLACKBERRY PUREE, SUGAR, APPLE PUREE CONCENTRATE, MODIFIED CORN STARCH, SODIUM ALGINATE, CITRIC ACID, METHYLCELLULOSE, DICALCIUM PHOSPHATE, MALIC ACID, CARAMEL COLOR, NATURAL AND ARTIFICIAL FLAVORS, RED 40, BLUE 1.
