My husband just brought home a juice extracting machine for the family! Since I suffer from IBS C, is juicing a viable option for me?
I have heard conflicting information on the amount of fiber present in freshly extracted juice. While it's obvious that there is no insoluble fiber in the juice, it's not clear whether there is soluble fiber. I'm guessing that soluble fiber IS present since the juice extracted by the machine is cloudy.

Many people with IBS find juicing useful.

Juicing does not remove ALL of the insoluble fiber. It removes much of it. Juicers normally have some sharp teeth and a metal mesh that acts as a filter. The teeth shred the food and the mesh strains it. If the teeth created shredded pieces of say the skin of berries that are smaller than the holes in the mesh then these pieces will pass through the mesh into the juice. Berry skins and the skins of other fruits and veggies are high in insoluble fiber. So the juice will contain some insoluble fiber too although not nearly as much as the unjuiced food.
