I was watching Dr. Oz today and they were talking about leakky gut causing constipation, diarrhea, tummy cramps, bloating.

Does anyone avoid eating nightshades (peppers, potatoes, egglplant) to help their IBS? Does anyone find these foods to be problemic? Thanks. I'm scared of these foods now. But I don't want to eat them if they are causing me problems. I know one night I had sauteed red peppers and a potato and the next day I was in pain. Coincidence? I don't know.

Leaky gut is controversial topic. Dr. Oz guests were focusing on a young boy with arthritis like symptoms not IBS. If you think you may have leaky gut then it is best to speak to your GI doctor.

Was the red pepper peeled? What else did you eat with the peppers and potato?

They did talk to women in the audience who had digestive problems like IBS and also talked about Leaky gut having IBS symptoms. There are articles about it.

I had chicken breast with this meal. No, the peppers were not peeled. Kind of hard to peel them raw or sauteed in tiny strips. I usually try to get some peel in if eating with a soluble fiber food as I have Constipation, not diarrhea. Severe constipation, btw. I'm scared to eat nightshade foods now.
