Hi everyone. Can you all give me some ideas on what you eat for lunch everyday? I am drawing a blank and I don't think my current lunch choice is agreeing with me. Thanks so much. The more ideas, the better!

I like to spread a salsa low carb tortilla with hummus throw in some sliced zucchini and spinach leaves (or whatever veggies you want).

A slice of toasted Ezekiel bread...spread with hummus or avocado and sliced tomatoes

Boca Burgers

thanks. Are you able to put these veggies in yur sandwich raw? Is the tortilla a white flour based for SF?

I usually eat them raw, but occasionally cook. I believe the tortillas I mentioned are wheat, but you can use any kind of tortillas. Even corn tortillas, although you need to heat those first for a few secs in the microwave as they have no flexibility like the flour ones. Also, sometimes instead of the hummus I'll use refried beans as a spread. you can change it up hot or cold, however you like.

I used to eat a lot of turkey sandwiches with carrot sticks or regular Pringles, or baked Lays for lunch and apple sauce for a snack.

NOTE: Not everyone can tolerate raw carrots. I don't know why, but I have almost always been able to. I am now a stable IBS-D.

on white bread, right? Were you able to put anything on it or did you eat them plain? Do you have any other options?

I don't follow the EFI diet....I need tons of IF.....SF doesn't do it for me. But if you used a regular flour tortilla, wouldn't you be getting your SF there??

If you don't eat the EFI diet, then what helped you?

I experimented with a lot of different ways of eating over the last five years. I tried the EFI diet on two separate occasions for several months and was worse off. Some swear by the diet and they are fortunate that it works for them. I eat very little dairy, red meat, white flour, or sugar. I eat mostly veggies, fruits, whole grains and protein. My IBS issues are not your typical C or D, but I have bowel issues. Some days are good, some not so good. The issues have somewhat changed over the last five years. When I first started having problems I was on boards constantly doing research and trying to "figure it all out". I now only look at boards/forums once in a while. Quite honestly, the biggest thing that helped me was not being on the boards all the time, due to the fact that when you're on the boards you are constantly thinking about your issues.

I used white bread, yes. Specifically light Italian bread. I was okay with a little light Miracle Whip or a little mustard and some soy cheese. I stayed away from lettuce for a long time.

Cyndy,

I would say I am about 95% better. In 2005 when I started the IBS diet, I was down to white bread, turkey, chicken, fish, white rice, oatmeal, soy milk, canned peaches, canned pears, apple sauce, bananas, green beans and carrots (raw or cooked).

It was gradual over a couple of years, but now I can eat all of that, plus pork (yes, I know this is a red meat and is a trigger for many), salads, even a little dairy now and then, and many other things I was afraid to and unable to eat seven years ago. I still steer clear of beef, coffee, large amounts of dairy, and artificial sugars but otherwise I am good to go. Oh, and I hardly drink soda anymore - maybe half a cup once a month.

I still take a soluble fiber supplement at least once a day.

It took a lot of patience and time on my part, and just as much patience and understanding from my husband and friends. I consider myself very lucky that I have come so far.

Hang in there. I hope things turn around for you.
