Metamucil Question

I will first admit that the idea of taking Metamucil or something like freaks me out. I am diarrhea prone and just to see the word laxative makes me uncomfortable, but I did read in the book not to worry about it. However, I also have a terrible gag reflex and in the past when a doctor has made me take something like this I just couldn't get it down. So, my question is; would taking the Metamucil that comes in the small capsules work as well? I have seen them at Walmart and Target. For me to swallow a pill I can handle over drinking a mixture. Only if it will work though. Please share your thoughts with me.

You might want to choose a different fiber supplement. Metamucil contains psyllium which is not a pure soluble fiber supplement. It is 33% insoluble fiber and 67% soluble fiber. You might have better results with a 100% soluble fiber supplement such as Benefiber or Heather's tummy fiber. Also, if you buy a soluble fiber supplement that is in powder form you can control the amount you take whereas with tablets and capsules it is more difficult to control the dosage. The neat thing about soluble fiber supplements is that they dissolve in fluids so you can drink them or you can mix them in with you oatmeal and other foods.
