I have a powerful sweet tooth, and believed that Splenda, in moderation, was my best option. I am learning about the FODMAP diet and how terrible fructose and sucrose can be for us, so, I'm thinking, "Isn't Splenda the lesser of many evils?". I have such a terribly restricted diet, with hypoglycemia, GERD, high cholestrol, IBS and Celiac, that I feel like I would go totally nuts if I couldn't use Splenda. Help???
Be Blessed,
karen

Could you use Stevia instead? Splenda is not a safe sugar substitute.

stevia is great, it is actually a powerful antifungal and is 50 times sweeter than sugar. you have to be SO careful with it though...add too much and you end up with a terrible aftertaste!! i would suggest you try the powder, because it just seems to taste better than the liquid. some of the stevia out there contains FOS, so you want to be sure to stay away from that just because some people with IBS do have a problem with that. and a little goes a LONG way!
