However, in one study, resistant starch added to oral rehydration solution has shortened the duration of diarrhea. Resistant starch is considered as a soluble fiber, but I'm not sure if it is possible to say in advance if it will have a positive or negative effect. EDIT: Resistant starches are actually water insoluble; but they can be fermented by colonic bacteria, so it is property which makes them "like soluble" fiber. -------------------- I don't have IBS.
