Hello, my fellow sufferers, and Heather. So nice to have a forum like this, for support and understanding.
I was diagnosed with IBS 30 yrs ago. I was given a pill to help with it, but gave it up because of extreme drowsiness. Since then I have also been diagnosed with: hypoglycemia (with the 5 hr. glucose tolerance test), acid reflux, and most recently CELIAC DISEASE. Needless to say, my diet is very challenging. I am a big fan of your products and eating tips Heather. I would be lost without you
My IBS is so bad now that I see a Naturopathic Doctor for vitamin drips, accupuncture, and special medications. She has given me SeaCure, Pancreatin and Genestra HM Forte probiotics. However, inspite of trying to follow all of your eating advice, taking your Tummy Fibre 3x/day, using the Fennel Tea, and listening frequently to your Hypnosis cd's, my IBS continues to rule my life.
Is it possible to take too many Probiotics? I take between 3-6 each day.
I try to follow your "rice or potatoes only" diet for at least a day after an episode, but my blood sugar gets really low and I can barely function.
I have lost my job of 10 yrs, and feel very skeptical about being able to keep one now, even if I could get one (at my age - 63).
I am just at my wits end, and getting very depressed. Any help/advice/support that anyone can offer would be a God-send.
Thanks and God Bless you all, my fellow soldiers in this stinking battle,
Karen

Hi Karen,
I've struggled with the pain and shame of IBS-Constipation symptoms for five years now. I just wanna say that you and I both need to keep hope. Hope to me is the number one. I'm believing it's going to be better tomorrow than it was today... I'm praying it's going to be better. For me, I believe that God is a kind and loving God. He cares about me and he holds me when I cry in anguish and pain. I trust him to heal me and so can you.

Karen,
I don't know that I have anything helpful to make your IBS better, but I can at least offer empathy and encouragement. I battle with IBS-C and Celiac Disease, too. I've dealt with the Celiac for over 9 years now, so maybe I could at least help you out there! I only had my IBS diagnosed 10 months ago, tho, and only "found Heather" this month!!! I'm VERY ENCOURAGED by her books and this incredible website. If you can somehow get to a more stable point, I'm sure you would find that the 2 diets (Celiac and IBS) are extremely compatible. Just think how awful it would be for us if IBS required whole wheat or barley!! There are delicious rice pastas (Tinkyada is great!), and so many recipes can be easily converted exchanging white rice flour or other GF mixes for the reg. flour.
What med was it that made you so tired? There are MANY diff. meds they could try if that one didn't work for you. Have you tried others? Is your IBS C or D?
Hang in there. I'm adding you to my list of those I pray for when I'm battling thru an attack!
