I am going to take a week long trip to Mexico soon and am thinking of switching from Citrucel powder to the caplets. It'll be a lot easier to take my fiber! What I usually have now is 3/4 of scoop before breakfast and the same before supper. So how many caplets do I need?? The directions on the box have really confused me!

So do I take 2 caplets in the morning and 2 at night? Or am I way off? Thanks for the help!

There are 2 grams of fiber from each serving of the powder and 1 gram of fiber from each two-caplet dose.

from web page

For each dose, looks like you're taking about 1.5 grams or so. So, I think about 3 pills = what you're taking in powder now.

Have fun in Mexico!

I got that info from the Citrucel website. I know on the container of the powder, it says 1 scoop is 1 heaping tablespoon. That's how I came up with my answer.

Honestly, I have to look them up all the time, because I can't remember. Where did you get your info from? Was it on the boards?

Each Citrucel CAPSULE contains only a half gram of fiber -- not nearly enough!

I think I got my info from a book about OTC soluble fibers and their contents mixes vs. caplets? Maybe I'm wrong?

I got it off the bottle. It said that each capsule contained 500mg. Since 1g = 1,000mg., that's a half gram.

I used to take the capsules until -- like you -- I checked on the AMOUNT of FIBER in each and was shocked to discover I was WAY below the minimum. I stopped taking the Citrucel, ordered Heather's acacia, and am just now starting to increase my acacia. (And I feel a LOT better because of it!)

By the way, I "discovered" Citrucel from my GI, who had a "display" of the stuff in his office. He never bothered to tell me how MUCH to take, so for YEARS I was taking FAR too little!

Those GI Docs make everything such a big secret. If you don't ask the right questions, you don't get any info. Don;t they realize the more educated we are about the disorder, the better we can manage it?
