Colonoscopy/Endoscopy advice

Anyone have any advice for my upcoming colonoscopy/endoscopy? Im scared!
IS it true that you need to stop drinking all herbal tea 10 days before. The doctor told me this but it seems a little silly. Now I have nothing to drink!

Hi Allison, I had the two at the same time back in 2005. My GI doc made no mention of not drinking any kind of tea. Just no diary stuff and red colored liquids. And this is just for prep day. No limitations before that, especially ten days.

i had the two done at the same time as well...the procedure is nothing to be scared about..u will be out...no pain at all...to prep before and the day of..i would eat light..soups or something not alot of hard to digest foods...the less in u the easier to eliminate it with that drink stuff..it's nasty...i didn't need to drink it all like they suggest..just stay very near the toilet b/c it will hit u quickly..like u turned on the faucet!!..

i'm having my 2nd colonoscopy tomorrow... the prep is the worst part (that stuff is gross) but the procedure of itself is easy, not painful, you'll be sleeping or half asleep the whole time. I was told that i could have clear liquids, my doctor didn't say anything about herbal teas. Good luck!

I had it done! The worst part wsa not knowing what to expect from the laxatives and if I was even doing it right. They told me to mix it with 65 ounces diet snapple. After half I was so sick of the drink I mixed the rest with plain electrolyte enhanced water and it was so much better! I cant understand why they tell you to use the snapple instead of water or something with less a taste, I was so nauseated from it! Plus all that apartamine cant be that good for you or your stomach. I was feeling a little delirious after the 4th drink. I guess my intestines where pretty clean becasue I was cleaned out pretty sudden and then just liquid the entire night and next day, it was exhausting.Another thing I felt very helpful for me was to keep a piece of ginger chews (Reeds) with me as I was drinking and just drink and throw the chew in my mouth if I was nauseous. Or sometimes I put a little piece of chocolate in my mouth. Then spit it out (cause you cant eat it). That really helped. Anyways, good luck with your test, hope it goes well.
