I've been concerned for a while that day-to-day attacks were related. For instance, I had two little attacks last night and today I woke up with minor pain that easily subsided. But the thing is, if I have another attack tonight, I don't want to blame it on the food! (BTW, I ate yogurt last night, which I believed I was able to tolerate, so I think it was just stress.) So today, should I just go with the usual, Oscar Mayer bacon, Eggo Waffles, and Ms. Butterwoth's Syrup (quite tasty :P)? Or should I have some food with soluble fiber like Quaker's Apple + Cinnamon Oatmeal (I know guys gave me recipe ideas before, but I don't really want to make them yet. :')?
Thanks for helping me to decide!

Mrs. Butterworth syrup can be a problem because like pop tarts it contains high fructose corn syrup which is a known IBS trigger. Here is a list of the ingredients:High fructose corn syrup, corn syrup, water, salt, cellulose gum, molasses, potassium sorbate (preservative), sodium hexametaphosphate, citric acid, caramel color, natural and artificial flavors. Try to stick with plain corn syrup.

Oscar Mayer's bacon is very high in fat and fat is a known IBS trigger.

Were you diagnoses with IBS by a gastroenterologist? If yes, what tests did they do? If no, who diagnosed you with IBS?

No, one really diagnosed my IBS. Since it runs in the family, we're really sure that is what I have. Also, we've told my doctor too.

But still, we're REALLY sure this is IBS.

Self-diagnosis of IBS is not a good idea. It is very important to get a proper diagnosis. There are a number of disorders that produce the same symptoms as IBS. It would be wise to talk to your doctor about seeing a GI specialist. Also ask for a breath test for lactose and fructose malabsorption which can produce the same symptoms too.

Eggo waffles have a few things that may be bad for you, maybe try traderjoes wheat free ones instead. They have no dairy or eggs.

I am trying not to prejudge the Nascar thing, but really if this isn't a joke, you need to read the website's information pages. You are eating way off! You can't eat crap when you have IBS- no red meat, dairy, or high fat!

"You absolutely must eat insoluble fiber foods, and as much as safely possible, but within the IBS dietary guidelines. Treat insoluble fiber foods with suitable caution, and you'll be able to enjoy a wide variety of them, in very healthy quantities, without problem." Please eat IF foods!

He is a kid. About 14 I believe, so he needs guidance, not judgement. Be easy on him.

@Minnie Oh, no; you see, I just discovered this website recently and I don't think my grandpa will be getting anything from here anytime soon. So, until then, I'm currently eating other things.

@Gerikat I understand a lot about this, but yeah, I think I need a little more "training"!

There is nothing to get from the website that is necessary. Eating good foods can be done at anytime, by anyone.

You can eat a safe diet without resorting to buying any different foods.

Try toast for breakfast with a bit of butter,or homemade jam. What do you eat for lunch?

Sandwich with chicken or toasted tomato maybe.Soup not creamed soup.

Supper can be safe easily.Peas, carrots, rice or potatoes.
Avoid syrup, red meat, cheese, pop, chips.Snack on pretzels or toast at night.Drink room temp water.

You may be young but if you want to get your symptoms under control you have to do the right things and not make excuses.

I hope you do try really hard because doing that now will save you so much pain and grief as you get older.
