black-eyed peas anyone?

Hi!
I've never had black-eyed peas before, but want to try them. I would make them along with a SF like pasta or rice.
Does anyone have any experience with black-eyed peas? Are they pretty much like regular (green) peas in that they have a tougher outer shell and mushy inside?

Yes - blacked-eyed peas grow in a pod like green peas. When removed from the pod black-eyed peas have about 1 gram of soluble fiber and 5.5 grams on insoluble fiber per 100 grams.
