Dont give up - everyone needs to find their way, what works for some, may also be helpful for you, but if not, keep trying - but also give options a good trial time.

Re hypnotherapy or hypnosis - if you do opt to use those suggested above and after awhile, if they dont do the trick, do consider the program offered on this website that Gerikat and I used - the IBS Audio Program 100 - it was specifically developed for IBS and all aspects of related symptoms including pain.

While the program does have a cost, it comes with a free recording explaining IBS to others and a helpful booklet and it also comes with free live support if you need it (even from England if need be via email or phone!) and the vast majority of folks who have used it have found relief - and most after trying everything else.

But dont give up on yourself - I have had IBS since 1983, suffered until the program began to help me in 2001 and I am still here encouraging others to not give up!

There is hope - and we hope you find your journey to feeling better no matter what that might be... all the best to you.

Lola, I'm so glad you are going to give some relaxation therapies a try. Wait and see how much they can help you.

Also, I wanted to check if you are taking a fiber supplement of some sort. To be honest, that alone completely saved me. My stomach stopped cramping all the time, and interestingly I can eat a LOT more things than I could before and feel so much better!

Here's to your health!

Cheers!

Hi Lola,
I have not posted for a long time. I have been stable for several years but like you just recently started having trouble. During that time, I have alternated between constipation and diarrhea but without pain or very minimal pain so I considered that stable. Recently that has changed. I am a Speech Language Pathologist who works in the school system. My pattern seems very similar to yours: constipation during the week and diarrhea on the weekend. If I have a day off, I go to the bathroom like crazy. When I was bad, I would have to take a sick day during the week. Then I'd go to the bathroom 7-8 times a day. The morning ususally started with lots of normal BM's but as the day went on, it would turn into diarrhea.
Anyway, I was recently under alot of stress, and then got the bright idea to try First Cleanse by Renew Life. Bad, bad idea! Now I have to start over with eating stabilizing foods. I guess I just wanted to say I feel your pain. We were stabilized before, and we can do it again. The thing that helped me the most before was my attitude about it. I had to stop obsessing about it. Diet helps, but it's your mind that cures it!

I've had similar problems, except I have 2 or 3 days constipated, then the 3rd day...gas and bad diarrhea, then the process starts again....I've switched some things trying a different probiotic and a different fiber and now feel like I'm back to square one!! Hang in there because we have to remember things WILL swing back again and it WILL be ok again....just so frustrating!
