I've had IBS since I was 12 and as we all know, one day you might be able to eat something, but not the next. Well... I've had a really bad stomach bug accompanied by a lot of stress and everything I eat causes diarrhea, cramping and bloating.
Well, "stupid me" decided to drink a Slim Fast drink yesterday. After about 6 swallows, I started swelling in my upper stomach, excessive mucus in my throat and thought I was going to have to go to the ER. You can visibly see the swelling. After a long night of pain, heating pad, bathroom, it's some better, but still swollen. I have found, in the past, the bloating/swelling can last for days.
Can someone tell me if this sounds normal? Just get stressed and scared - plus, "tis the season"
Thanks, everyone, for always being there for me through the years.... MERRY CHRISTMAS AND GOD BLESS! ~ Dorothy

What flavor Slim Fast did you drink?
What kind of swelling did you have (facial, abdominal, etc)?
Slim Fast isn't a particularly IBS friendly product. Some flavors contain fructose, sucralose, milk proteins and variety of other unfriendly ingredients.

Syl -
First of all, Merry Christmas!
It as the Chocolate Royale and it caused rapid hearbeat, pressure, bloating/swelling in the upper abdominal area, even felt it in my rib cage and around the back.
This seems to have become a pattern for some foods. My allergist says she "thinks" it's food intolerances, rather than allergies.
I've noticed again today, same thing happening with "No Yolk" noodles. I thought it to be safe. However, the very same thing happened. And, eggs seem to be a culprit too.
Eggs, pasta/noodles used to be a standby for me, but not now.
Thanks for replying - Dorothy
