Would you be relying on the high fructose corn syrup in Karo pancake syrup to act as an osmotic laxative? If yes, it is probably not a good idea since it may exacerbate IBS symptoms.

Karo light only contains corn syrup (glucose), salt and vanilla. It should be safe. The Karo lite, on the other hand contains additives and sucralose which can be problematic for some.

I presume you want to know if these syrups are safe not if they will help with chronic constipation?

Karo has another product spelled 'lite' that does not contain HFCS. However, it contains sucralose and some additives.

I had to look a couple of times when I visited the Karo web site because it confused me too. Another thing on their web site that confused me was in the FAQ . Under Ingredients it says "As a result of consumer requests, the high fructose corn syrup has now been removed and all Karo products are high fructose corn syrup free"

I did notice at Whole Foods today there wasn't any on the shelf. The karo does seem to act as a lubricant for stool to pass through easier. I do use Miralax which I hate.
