Hi,
I am new to the world of IBS, not even fully confirmed via screening, but First Year IBS's diet suggestions have been very helpful so far and I am finally excited about menu planning after getting Cooking for IBS! I am going to make a grocery run this weekend and try some of the recipes after eating ridiculously little variety for two months. So I am wondering if anyone knows whether venison is any safer at all than traditional red meat/steak. It is supposed to be much lower in fat. It's hard for me to imagine generally giving up red meat. And my freezer is chock full of venison.

Venison is a red meat and therefore not safe according to the IBS diet.

However, I am able to tolerate it now and then. If I have it two days in a row, though, there are sometimes consequences.

For recipes that normally take ground beef, you can substitute safe ground turkey in its place. I know it's not quite the same, but it's still pretty tasty.

I eat venison with far fewer consequences than beef.
