I've had trouble finding a safe ice cream.
When I go to the store I see Rice and Soy Ice Cream (I can better tolerate Rice Cream).

But, most of the time it is high in fat (beyond the 25% calories from fat).
Do any of you know of brands which make Soy or (preferred) Rice cream that meets the fat content?
Links?

Try frozen yogurt.
They have great flavors and it tastes the same as icecream IMO
It's probably better for you too.

I agree that this is a dilemma because the rice "ice creams" are high in fat, however frozen yogurt is dairy, so...not sure what to recommend....Maybe a real fruit type frozen bar?

Sorbets are a good choice because they are usually FF. You can even find chocolate sorbet. Every non-dairy ice cream I have seen is too high in fat alone but after eating a very low fat meal you could eat the ice cream right away. Just remember not to have it on an empty stomach.

IBS-A for 20 years with terrible bloating and gas. On the diet since April 2004. Remember this from Heather's information pages:
"You absolutely must eat insoluble fiber foods, and as much as safely possible, but within the IBS dietary guidelines. Treat insoluble fiber foods with suitable caution, and you'll be able to enjoy a wide variety of them, in very healthy quantities, without problem." Please eat IF foods!

I just recently tried the chocolate soy ice cream from Trader Joe's. I like it a lot...it has more of a Italian ice taste to it, but if you don't mind that then I say go for it. I have also seen cherry chocolate chip flavor in Trader Joe's.

This is my first reply and I'm wondering how I can post my own message with my own subject. I just got Heather's book the other night and have come up with a bunch of questions but have no idea how to post them!

Just today I found (and tried tonight) a brand called SO Delicious in my local food store. I bought the little soy ice cream sandwiches and they were really good..90 calories and 2 or 3 grams of fat which is tolerable for me. Here is the website if you are interested.

http://www.turtlemountain.com/

just click on 'products.' This company sells a lot of coconut based products too, but I'm not into that. Also, not all of their products are low in fat and calories...as you click on eat product you will see all the nutrition facts. Hope this helps!
