After quite a vicious bout of IBS for the past month or so, I have been eating bread, pretzels, applesauce, etc., and the symptoms have pretty much stopped but I feel nauseous for an hour or so every day in the afternoon. Anyone else have this problem? What can i do to stop that?

This is just a guess but your body might want to make an afternoon poo and that is how it tells you.

IBS-A for 20 years with terrible bloating and gas. On the diet since April 2004. Remember this from Heather's information pages:
"You absolutely must eat insoluble fiber foods, and as much as safely possible, but within the IBS dietary guidelines. Treat insoluble fiber foods with suitable caution, and you'll be able to enjoy a wide variety of them, in very healthy quantities, without problem." Please eat IF foods!

Or it could be you are not eating enough - either enough food period or enough protein. I find that when I go too long without eating or if I don't eat enough protein, I get pretty nauseous. (Even when I'm not pregnant!)

I deal with random nausea sometimes as well. It seems to be how my system cycles sometimes. I'll have a few good weeks and few bad weeks. Nausea seems to come around more often when I am dealing with constipation.

There are some ways to combat nausea. Some are probably better than others. I'd recommend trying Iberogast which is an herbal mixture that promotes digestive motility. Also I like mints as well, I have probably an unhealthy addiction to Altoids Peppermints. Sometimes eating something salty can help as well. Environment can be big too, cooling down & getting some fresh air can help reduce nausea. Ginger in either teas or candies helps some, it doesn't really help me though. There are also sea-band bracelets that you wrap around your wrist which are suppose to help.
