It isn't as readily available in North America as it is in Europe put it can be found. Recently some health claims made for Lactobacillus Plantarium 299v have been ruled invalid by the European Food safety organization ( example 1 and example 2 ). The recent announcement appears to have been made as a poster-session at Digestive Disease Week 2010. We will have to wait until the results are published to known what the findings actually are. They may be interesting An interesting thing found in the abstract of the poster is that 90% of the participants ate yogurt and 43% ate it daily.

Cyndy, I was going to, but after trying so many, I decided just to let it be. Seems much better. Probiotics were a waste of money for me.

But, if I decide to give it a whirl again, I will try this one. Certainly, can't hurt except in the pocketbook.
