Hi all. I used to post on these boards alot years ago however i have been very bad and havent been online due to depression and anxiety and ibs being d then c now both I have recently been having some severe bloating higher up in my stomach area and alot of heartburn ,nausea, pain and pressure - as well as all that ive been having the normal every day ibs symptoms So ive come back to posting to get some support and advice. Im currently trying to get my gp to re refer me back to the gastro specialist - when i last saw him last year he said he didnt feel the need to do any more testing and that ive just got ( hate it when people say its just this lol) a severe case of ibs. However im not convinced its just ibs as alot of it is all in the higher stomach area - so i would really apreciate any ideas or possible causes if anyone knows ?? Look forward to hearing from anyone that can shed some light on this for me and i hope i can gives something to the boards too jen

a delay in replying due to internet problems ( as if i havent got enough on my plate lol) anyway testwise - I have had a barium enema , blood tests on everything from liver to thyroid ive had a helicobactor ( i think its called that ) stool test done recently and that was fine ive had laparoscopy to see if the pains were anything to do with endometreosis while he was int ehre he found some adhesions attaching my bowel to my ovary or something like that anyway and he removed them but other than that its all been normal - the onyl thing i havent really had done is an endoscopy into my upper stomach ? my gastro doc said no need to do anything else hes absolutely convinced its ibs !!

When you say the stomach area could you mean the ascending and transverse colon (see the green area in the graphic on the right hand side of the page)? This is were I experience the discomfort. Have you had a fructose malabsorption test?

syl - yes i guess its the part of the colon that goes along the top under the actual stomach - ive always thought it was in my actual stomach but now you point it out maybe it isnt. Dragonfly - i have looked up symptoms lots and nothing other than a ulcer / hernia comes up but they have said it isnt that and that its ibs - i have bouts of heart burn and burping ( sorry ) and my upper stomach bloats up so much. they have said they have done al the tests they can do and nothing is showing - so i guess it is ibs if thats what they tell me - i was diagnosed 7 years ago with it and my specialist said i have quite severe ibs but because i was getting these upper symptoms i convinced myself it was something else - some days i feel so nauseas ( never sick) and just groggy in my tummy is this normal ?

Yes Thats how I feel...like I could throw up and crampy but never actually do. The gas gets so bad sometimes it causes a panic attack...I think it's a heart attack.lol
But when I eat my safe foods that helps and as long as I don't eat too many trigger foods I can go for weeks without these issues.

Do you follow the EFI diet?It really does help to control symptoms.

I have followed the diet religiously before and since i havent been on the boards ive fallen off it but kept to certain things - ie no red meet no dairy etc however ive just dug my book out this afternoon and i think im going to go back to basics and start all over again and give myself a kick up the bum
