Hello-

Here is a great article about trying to get pregnant. I too am trying and have been taking folic acid for 6mths and prenatal vitamins for 3 mths (I asked around and found a great easy on the stomach one). It is very important to be within your healthy weight range. Many women have difficulty conceiving if they are too heavy and/or too thin. Try healthy fats like avocados, finely ground nuts, soy and good carbs like potatoes, white rice, sweet potatoes, quinoa etc.

Hope this helps,

I totally understand... I constantly worried that my IBS would get worse while pg, but it really didn't. Pregnancy tends to cause C, so that should only help you! And breastfeeding has been my "miracle cure" - I've been able to eat SO many foods that I couldn't before!!

Have you tried the hypno cds? Those would be a HUGE help to you right now. Not only would they help your IBS symptoms, but they would help relax you, too. I remember doing them while we were TTC and it really helped me relax.

Are you taking folic acid? That's a definite must!!!! Concentrate on eating, eating, eating, and relaxing! Seriously, I know it's stressful, but this is an amazingly wonderful time for you and your partner.

I've had ibs c and d at different times for most of my life and I didn't have any problems becoming pregnant because of the ibs. I don't think ibs would affect fertility. I did have major problems becoming pregnant though, due to Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. I went on some meds. for it (Metformin). I also started using a special lubricant that is sperm friendly (Pre-Seed) and I bought some hospital grade Ovulation strips on Amazon.com and checked to see if I was ovulating everyday and the combination of the three worked like a charm! It only took me two months to get pregnant after years of trying! I'd talk to your ob and then go to see a fertility specialist. They were the ones who put found out I had p.c.o.s. and put me on the meds. and recommended the Pre-Seed. Without the medication, lubricant and the specialist I would never have gotten pregnant! I am so thankful for all their help and advice, because I am now 13 weeks pregnant and doing great! Best of luck to you! Sending Baby dust your way!!
